Title: Martin GA AAR Sept. 14-15 2019
Post by: Morpheus on September 17, 2019, 09:29:54 AM
What a great weekend for an Appleseed at the Red Hill Range in Martin GA!!

Saturday morning was overcast, and humid, but the temps were less than the upper 90's that we had experienced the whole week leading up to this day. 16 shooters showed up and we began the process of minting new Riflemen! The first Redcoat targets of the day showed that we had some skilled shooters already in our midst, but we pressed on with the tripod of marksmanship and started in with the Steady Hold Factors, Six Steps of Firing the Shot, and Natural Point of Aim. We heard the story of April 19, 1775 throughout the day as this fine Instructor cadre told the Three Strikes of the Match. We did get through one AQT before the closing Redcoat Target and some very respectable scores were observed.

Sunday morning dawned clear with a promise of some hotter temps for the day. But sunscreen and popup shelters made the day quite bearable. After review of Saturday's firehose of instruction we did get an AQT in before lunch. Along with some more promising scores we had Trevor requalify with a 228 on his centerfire rifle! Huzzah!! After lunch, another AQT revealed that Allen was our newest Rifleman, (shooting a bolt action rifle with iron sights!!) and scoring a 216, followed by a 226! Not to be outdone, the ladies of our group also showed their mettle. Karen posted a 219! And then, to finish off the last AQT, Jen turned in a 211!

It is noteworthy to mention that I had the honor of awarding Trevor with his "Distinguished" patch Sunday afternoon since he turned in another Rifleman score of 242!  O0

We closed out Sunday by moving the target line to 100y and confirming that what we do at 25m does work out at distance as well. Shooters were also treated to ringing steel at 100y with some other centerfire rifles, an M1 Garand, and a muzzleloader rifle that Andreas brought. Thank you!!

The ladies group that attended were missing a couple of their members due to a horrific accident the preceding weekend. With much thoughts and prayers, some skilled doctors, and some divine healing, we hope to see those ladies at another event very soon!

It was such a pleasure to shoot boss this event. My thanks goes out to the Instructors who made this event the success that it was. And thank you to the shooters, without whom we would have no reason to instruct. Remember the 7th Step! And we hope to see each of you again.

May the sleeping American awaken, and may liberty increase!

Thank you very much Morpheus for being the Shoot Boss at an incredible event.  I've twice now had the privilege of hearing you deliver Patrick Henry's speech that was presented to the Second Virginia Convention and was even more amazed with your speaking ability the second time.  How those words must have rung out so many years ago.....! It was a real honor to hear them be delivered by you again!

What a great event! Congratulations to Jen, Allen and Karen! And to CanBrit on his well earned distinguished badge!  :---

I know the rest of the shooters can do it too. A Rifleman persists!

It is always a pleasure working with Morpheus and the great cadre of instructors that came to Martin! And what a wonderful group of shooters. Was so encouraged to see their attentiveness to all of the history portions and their marksmanship progress as the event continued.
