Title: Waitsburg, WA AAR, June 1-2, 2019
Post by: Prescott on June 04, 2019, 01:57:21 PM
This was our first event at the Waitsburg Gun Club for 2019.   The weather was very warm after a cooler and wetter May, and it fatigued the shooters (and shoot boss) who were not used to the heat.

The events in Waitsburg are usually on the smaller more intimate size, as this is the rural side of the state.   We had 3 students at this event, 2 adults and one seven year old youth.   The seven year old was fun to watch shoot his new Rascal rifle.   By the end of Saturday, he was running it like a champ.  Since the rifle was so light, he was able to shoot it safely while standing, sitting and in prone.  An instructor was holding his ammunition so he could quickly load each round and shoot.   He was able to able to easily shoot stage 1 and 4 of the AQT, but was challenged, due to the time frame, on stages 2 & 3.

Unfortunately, we did not get any new rifleman this weekend.   However, we did see an improvement is shooting skills through the weekend.  Remember to incorporate dry fire practice at home, as you can master many of the Appleseed shooting techniques without having to shoot any ammunition.  I also recommend picking up a laser pointer to help perfect your trigger squeeze, steady hold factors and NPOA shifts.

I am looking forward to seeing everyone back at another AS event.
