Title: Jimi - Passed Away
Post by: scuzzy on April 27, 2019, 09:44:35 AM
I just received notice that 'Jimi' who was an Appleseed Red Hat has passed away.

I'd worked a few events with him in Midland, TX years ago. I remember him well and also Clif who sent me this. He'll be missed by many. Here is what I was emailed pasted below.

Jimi Genzling, 61, of Lakewood, NM, passed away on Monday, March 11, 2019 at his home.   Cremation has taken place and Memorial services were held at 10 a.m. on Saturday,

March 16, 2019 at West Funeral Home Chapel in Carlsbad.  Chaplain Michael Adams of Encompass Health will officiate and Military Honors will be provided by the Carlsbad Veterans

Honor Guard.

James Henry "Jimi " Genzling was born in Quincy, Illinois and raised in Monahans, Texas by Hank and Mary Ann (German) Genzling. He had one brother, John and two sisters, Mary

"Sissy," and Lynn.

He joined the United States Air Force as an airframe technician after graduating Monahans High School then did a lateral transfer to the United States Coast Guard where he served

honorably for 8 years. He was Honorably Discharged after a service related injury.

Jimi married Theresa (Berry) Genzling and had one daughter, Amanda, who is a practicing RN in Abilene Texas.

He was a talented gunsmith and marksmanship educator. He took great pride in his work and was well loved and respected in that community.

He had many loyal friends.

Jimi is survived by his wife Theresa; daughter Amanda; two sons from a previous marriage, Tony and Brian and sister Lynn.

His favorite saying to share with anyone and everyone was, "Follow Uncle Jimi's rule number 1: Don't sweat the small stuff."

Jimi was an Appleseed Red Hat of the highest order. Many earned their Riflemyn's Patch under his instruction.

Pretty sure he's up there with Scout teaching certain angels how to shoot.

Jimi was the toughest soul I ever had the privilege of knowing, and I knew him since 1969.

He will be sorely missed.

Hooyah!
