Had a wonderful time sharing Project Appleseed with 35 ladies at the Georgia "The Well Armed Woman" state-wide meeting at Griffin Gun Club on Saturday.
Thanks to Akela61 and volunteer RSOs, we were able to not only share about the Appleseed program, but also to give the ladies and opportunity to shoot.
We started with a brief description of Project Appleseed: All about Liberty, Heritage and Marksmanship, not militia or current politics. We then presented Nancy Hart and Elizabeth Zane. Then, it was time for Safety Rules, Safe Rifle and ammo problems. After instructing on hasty sling and prone position, we gave them an opportunity to shoot at the squares target for sighting, then engage the Hits Count target. Due to time constraints, only one COF took place with 2 of the three rotations. We emphasized that they were getting only a very brief sample of what takes place at a regular Appleseed event. Now, these were experienced pistol shooters, but not one came even close to clearing the Redcoat target. However, they left with smiles and eager to sign up. Tri-folds were given to all; a drawing for 6 ladies to win an Appleseed shirt took place, and we were approached by the Range Manager to discuss having Appleseed events at the Griffin Gun Club. He wants to try to convince the Board of the need to construct a 300 yard range (that's the most distance they have) for holding KDs as well as 25 meter events.
