What a weekend. The weather was pretty good on Saturday, overcast, but only a little rain.
We started the weekend with the Saturday morning Redcoat. Only 8 of 13 shooters made the grade at 100 yards. There was definitely some room for improvement, so we opened with a little instruction on the Steady-Hold Factors, Six Steps and NPOA.
Trevor came all the way from New York to lend a hand and demonstrate the positions.
Things improved, after that, and by the end of the day, we had 10 on target at 100, 5 at 200, 3 at 300, 2 at 400, and 2 joined Mr. Morgan's team. Rob even cleared the entire Redcoat!!
Sunday morning dawned wet and a little colder, but that didn't dampen everyone's spirit. We welcomed a new Orange Hat to the ranks. Welcome aboard, 'Bama!
After that, it was time to brave a little weather. We took a new approach to posting targets, covering the cardboard stands with plastic so they would hold up through the day. The rain kept coming, which turned the firing line to mud...
The team held it together and, after some instruction on the AQT, and hearing about some Dangerous Old Men, decided that they were ready to face the afternoon.
Mud? Even under cover! But this group didn't let that stand in their way.
If the mud gets too deep, just kick off your boots and shoot bare-foot. You get better contact with the ground that way.
We'd like to thank the Orwell Gun Club, for hosting us and preparing lunch on Saturday. Can you believe the club president was the cook? Thanks Darren.

Sounds like great shoot and welcome to Bama, thanks for stepping up. While you all were enjoying just overcast, we had rain from Friday night to Sunday afternoon in New Philly. Glad you all didn't have to put up with it.

Another great weekend Appleseed at Orwell has come and gone. We always seem to have such a good time at Orwell. Always a great team to work with and great Americans show up to spend the weekend drinking from the Appleseed fire hose of instruction. I would like to once again thank the parents of the 7 young Americans that spent the weekend with us. These kids were amazing! Every one of them.
Thank you Trevor for making the 4 hour drive down from New York. Look forward to working a line with you again.

Did Texas T mention the mud? Even though we had two 10X20 canopies we turned this range into a mud pit. I will have to go throw out some grass seed this week sometime.

WOW. I was just able to watch this you tube that was created by MXCGMDVIII. Very nice video and I really enjoyed seeing the mud again. Especially with the boots kicked off in order to keep the shooting mats somewhat mud free. See you all on the line again very soon hopefully.
a day late and a dollar short, the story of life. What an exciting weekend at Orwell gun club this was, rain, mud, and all! So many patriots out and persevering despite the conditions. Thank you all for coming out, and hope to see you down the trail in the future!
