What a glorious weekend. Marana had a record breaking 20 shooters on Sat and 15 on Sun. We also had and IIT1 all weekend. The weather on Sat was wonderful except for the wind. Sun had no wind but it got hot real quick. all of the slight hiccups on Sat were dealt with and fun was had by all. Sat brought us a new Rifleman. Also, we had 6 youths, ages 11 thru 17. They all progressed splendidly. There were a number of father son teams and a dad,mom and daughter set. Family fun was had by all this past weekend.
One young man decided to try a bolt action with optic, took the optics off and shoot that, then a 22 with no optics and to finish it off he shot an AR-15 with iron sites. YES he made Rifleman with all 4 of them.
Another young man made rifleman with his optics on and then took them off and made Rifleman with iron sites. It was awesome.
AND the IIT 1 did such a fabulous job. He passed everything with flying colours and got promoted.
It was such a diverse group.......all of the services were well represented........Retired and active duty Army, Active Navy, Retired Air Force.
We even initiated a blue hat...thank you for all your help.
Great job, guys! Sounds like an epic event! :F :F Huzzah!
Since El Paso is not a bad drive from Marana, you might let your shooters know they are now eligible to shoot a Known Distance Appleseed event, and they're welcome to join us at Ft. Bliss, TX on May 19-20. Instructors/IITs/Blue Hats are welcome, too, to instruct or to shoot!
I had a great time and was proud to finally have it all come together to make rifleman!
Also it was great to see my brother shoot an 85 to start with, but by the end of Sunday, he had a 159! Almost doubled his score. He's got a long way to go, but he had caught the bug!
Great fun! Was missing that wind come Sunday afternoon. Great to finally make Rifleman. Now to work with those irons.
