Title: Appleseed KD event - Arnold AFB, Nov. 11-12, 2017
Post by: TN_Dadx5 on November 17, 2017, 08:34:36 PM
At this KD event we had a fine cross section of America; some young and some not so young, some new to centerfire and some who know their way around an AR-15.

Our instruction started out with what was supposed to be a quick and dirty equipment check, but it turned out lasting a bit longer than we thought.  Just about every rifle had to have the scope leveled and eye-relief adjusted.

Having that taken care of we got down to the business of teaching centerfire marksmanship Appleseed style.  We touched on the basics, expanding where centerfire realities needed more in-depth instruction.  The group was great to work with and took it all to heart.  Our instruction ended with range estimation and some homework for the students.  Only one dog was hungry overnight!

Sunday started out cool and cloudy, but the students were ready to get a few AQTs under their belts.  We had 3 out of 9 qualify and get their Long Distance patch.  Kudoos to Jared, Josh and BooneyStomper!  We had a few others knocking at the door and should the few points they lacked at the next KD.

And now, onto the pictures...

Congratulations to all the shooters who came out: both those who qualified and those who persevered and are about to qualify soon.  We did a blended course of fire with lots of short range work on Saturday before moving to the KD range on Sunday.

The Manchester TN (Arnold AFB) is a fantastic facility for both 25m and KD events.  If you haven't been, it's worth the visit.

I didn't get many pics, but I'll post the few I have soon.

We all had a lot of fun and stayed mostly dry ;D. Great training by Max Ord and Google!! ^:)^ Arnold AFB is a great facility, we're really glad to have it. Now, if only, they had electronic scoring like Talladega CMP......
