Bump
Let's renew the Revolutionary Haiku thread now until April 19, 2023. There's still time to comment on Washington's winter of 76-77.
Scroll to the bottom and add your new Haiku!
I challenge Appleseed's advocates to create poems in Haiku format, now until April 19, 2018.
You may improve on mine or create your own. Just follow the simple rules of three lines with 5-7-5 syllables. No explanation required--just the poem.

April Nineteen dawn
Liberty for us today
Revolution lives
In Liberty,
TheMenace
I fear, in this task
You have opened a worm can!
Submissions inbound:
(Forgive in advance
Any transgression of mine
Syllables are hard!)
Samuel Whittemore
Shot and run through thirteen times
Lived to 96
What number of troops
When grandma can capture 6
Will it take to win?
Isaac Davis stood
His strong men were unafraid
To take back the bridge
Paul Revere's wild ride
Would be a Disney Land treat
Mr Toad objects!
They mean to rule us
We have always ruled ourselves
It's not about tax
A spark. Another.
Finally the match is lit!
For Liberty all!
The Lord Hugh Percy
Distain'd Colonist marksmen
Then reconsidered
"Irregular mob?
They know what they are about!"
Don't make that mistake.
Hezakiah's aim
Across the back of his horse
Was deadly and true
Our brave men disperse
A shot rings out! The troops fire!
Parkers' men are killed
Got a second chance
To set the foes on their heels
At Parkers revenge!
The circle of fire
Is not something from Taco Bell
Hot sauce related
To arms Countrymen!
Forsake Tyranny's iron yoke
The battle has begun!

Came to take our guns
Not today we tell the scum
That day was not fun
What a great idea sir! Thanks for posting this. I know most of us are great "gunslingers", but who can be a great "wordslinger" too?
Traditionally, haiku is written in three lines, with five syllables in the first line, seven syllables in the second line, and five syllables in the third line.
Here is my try at haiku "wordslinging":
April morning sun rise
Under king's tyranny old thumb all
Sun set liberty shines down
This is fun!
Couldn't resist, more:
Over cold waters
Brought regulars to their knees
Shot heard around the world
They fired ball first
Ever we fought back red righteously
3rd strike now liberty for me
Washington led us
Franklin negotiated
Liberty lives now
History we tell
Marksmanship we teach
Liberty we honor
Banditie His Claim
Hugh Earl Percy Is Ashamed
Heath Circled His Fire
:2t
Give me Liberty!
Patrick Henry did exclaim
Or give me death!
Sons of Liberty
Defend the Constitution
The Law of our Land

Close eyes, open eyes
Confirm your N.P.O.A.
Squeeze and follow through
Waco lends Marlins
They are such a pain to clean
Thank you, Richard Jones!
At your first event,
A patch is not that likely.
Rifleman persists!
For Ghostring's amusement:
Lexington shots fired.
Dude, let's not go to Concord.
I have my orders.

Ghostring's pen awakes
N.J. Refugee is great! Thanks for the Haiku :)
A scout has come back
"Regulars are at the Rock!"
(It's not Dwayne Johnson)
Revere's ride is done
He walks to Lexington Green
"Wait, help hide this trunk!!!"
Barrett's express says:
Regulars have fired ball!
...There can be no doubt
Your Facebook friend count
Can not compare to the men
That Revere brought forth
Happy Holidays
But I say Merry Christmas
Cause I not Correct
Gage's secret was out
Revere rode Brown Beauty to shout
Redcoats are about
Washington's bold plan
Christmas frozen river crossing
Victory or Death!
Is it true they say
that LIBERTY doesn't sell?
Have we lost our soul?
Rall said "Let them come…
We will meet them with bayonets"
The Hessian welcome
Delaware crossed
Frozen men march to Trenton
Victory uncertain
Hessians Surprised!
Washington's troops win Trenton
Hope is restored
Not just Paul Revere
For that night there were many
A spiderweb formed
Colonists resist
Intolerable acts rile
Patriots revolt
Alarm was sounded
Patriots heard, responded
Liberty defended
in Liberty

Let's renew this thread now until April 19, 2020.
Tyranny faced
Freedom secured for us
Liberty prevails
April Nineteenth
Against the feared Red Serpent
Our forefathers stood
Corona it sucks
Many people mass hysteria
April shoots cancelled
Patriots STAND UP,
Our Country is in danger,
With thirteen rounds - LOAD!
So many redcoats
Stand in the way of freedom
Aim center of mass
The Menace,
once again, by your leave, I submit a new haiku and a revised one from another thread. Hey, you've put a great task before me. And there's how many days until Patriots' Day?
Our Patriots' Day shoot
Though disrupted this one year
Still dwells in our hearts
On April nineteen
From many town squares and farms
Our freedom was born
Two more haikus...
This Patriots' Day
The memorial volley
Is dry fire at home
Still, do not despair
Join fellow patriots
With a common mind
Confined to home
No Memorial Volley!
Constitutional?
Time to start the annual Haiku for Patriot's Day.
Muskets then rifles
The Patriots fought for us
Our Liberty won!
Let's turn our focus to Valley Forge, 1777.

Valley Forge Winter
Steadfast Patriots regroup
Continue the fight
Patriots rejoice
Another free Christmas day
Greetings Appleseed
Joked with my fellow compadres at my last event that I'd be ready to teach IMC (for promo to iit3) when I understood it well enough to write an haiku about it. Still working on it, but have my first line written. :)

one, one hundred, one
an inch, at yards, a minute
of angle, four clicks
Quite an entertaining and intriguing thread, inspiring me to participate despite not having written a haiku since the first term of Ronald Reagan. No guts, no glory...
Lexington Concord
Patriot heart Red Coat blood
Liberty bloomed
In seventy six
George traversed the Delaware
Bitter frigid cold
Safety steps factors
Aim small miss small persistence
A clean AQT
One I am surprised we have not heard from any nervous admins:
Icebergs dead ahead :sos:
Remember; stay on mission please. O0
Save a country, yes? :F
Disclaimer: mine is purely comical in nature â€" I have not witnessed anyone violating Appleseed rules.
Boston blockaded
Redcoats have us surrounded
The foolish Bastards
