Last summer, several local Appleseeders wrote letters, got them notarized, and sent them to the state attorney general, Luther Strange (now Senator Strange). There were followups, but the process seemed interminable.
The issue? The Huntsville Public Library system refused to comply with state law on lawful carry of firearms. For those of you who don't know, Huntsville is the largest city in North Alabama. Home to aviation, technology, and aerospace companies, it's affectionately known as the Silicon Valley of the South.
The library director and city attorney were intransigent, stating they would not comply with Alabama statue allowing citizens to carry open or concealed in the Library. The quibbling from Huntsville officials lasted months as they attempted to explain away stripping law abiding citizens of their right to self-defense.
Today, I got this letter from the AG office.

Brothers and sisters in Liberty, thank you for everything you do - on and OFF the firing line. You truly lead by example. I am humbled to be counted in your number.
