Thirteen fine folks came out Saturday. Weather was excellent! high sixties, no wind, couldn't have been a better day. The day started off slowly, with the usual equipment issues, and a couple rifles DOA. Fixed them fairly quickly, got them back on the line.
The morning redcoat target showed we had our work cut out for us. Shotgun groups and many sight adjustments to be made. Once they got going, the groups started shrinking...
Lunchtime history was well received, and a few got to shoot a Brown Bess musket, which was a hit! Hitting home that our forefathers didn't have the fine equipment we have today, but they sure had the heart!!! :bow: :bow:
The day ended with 11 out of 15 qualifying on the final redcoat. Mark K. was our only rifleman on Saturday with a 215. Way to go Mark! :~ :~ :~ O0
Two more knocking on the door over 200, Rob had a 207, and Jon had a 202. So Close, guys, Tomorrow may be the day... :-[
Sunday came early for me, was at the range just after 7am. Started raining... Hung out in the truck for 20 minutes or so, Then the rain stopped, so far so good...
The morning saw 9 returning to soak up some history and marksmanship. After a quick review, we saw the attendees start to "Get it." Right about lunchtime, during the DOM stories, the clouds opened up again pretty heavily... Quick prep period to put away rifles, then back to the history huddled under a very large EZ up... Thanks to Jon, Rob, and Norm for thinking ahead.
After lunch, the rain stopped, the sun peeked out for a bit, and we got back to it. Every one stayed and worked on their transition stages and got more accurate and faster... First Rifleman was Rob with a 214! Man was he happy, way to go, next we had Bruce with a 216! Way to stick it out through the pains and back problems, dude!!! And I believe it was the last redcoat of the day, Jon got his Rifleman score with a 212! That dude was cheering and fist pumping... felt good to see these guys make it in the face of adversity... they were focused. Awesome guys, I am happy for you... ^:)^ ^:)^ ^:)^
Other folks got pretty close...
Chris=186, Pedro=185, Marc=179, Nick=171 all made Sharpshooter!
Norm=169, Michael=155, Jimmy=148, all made Marksman! Keep at it guys, you will get better with practice, if you dry fire at home...
I had such a great time, and met some awesome people, hopefully some friends for life. ;D

Thanks Cam, Chris, Ronnie, Dan, and Boris for such an amazing weekend, and all the time and effort you put into the program--even the time it takes to do these AARs. You are true patriots and Appleseed has ignited a fire in me--it's not only changed my philosophy on shooting, but my philosophy on what it means to be an American.

It was an awesome Appleseed weekend and Chris and I are so happy we could be a part of it. Congrats to our new rifleman and to all of you for sticking it out in the rain.

So, if you achieved your rifleman score and have been to an Appleseed prior to this weekend; we would love for you to step up and take an orange hat as an IIT (instructor in training).
Cameron and Dan are our shoot bosses and they can get you set up if you are interested.
You are all the patriots we are looking for to help us pass along the knowledge of marksmanship, history and heritage. We can't wait to see those who are still working on achieving their rifleman scores at another Appleseed. Remember Rifleman Persist!!!! ^:)^
