Title: November Field Shoot
Post by: hawkeye on November 08, 2016, 08:26:00 PM
Time for the November 15th Field shoot , the shoot starts at 10:00. As always we start with the safety briefing  then we Zero rifles until about 11:30 then we will break for lunch and began the course of fire.  We will shoot the first course of fire  prone under the shelter and the 2nd and 3rd out in front of the shelter using the range truck, van or reels to shoot over ,bring your pistol and holster with about 25 rounds as this will be part of the course. For the 200 yard target we will shoot the gongs for instant feed back. The range fee will remain $20.00 per shooter with ladies shooting free. I will try to set up a hostage shot for pistol, your chance to be a hero! Thank You

WE start prone at the firing line and shoot at gongs at 200, popups at 300,400, and 500, two shoots at each target first round hits score more (8 to 16 rounds). Then we move out to a prop such as the range van or truck and shoot pistol at a target (no score) and then ground the pistol and more to the rifle to engage the same targets as prone ,but you have to modify your position to shoot out the back of the van or though the doors and such. Then you go to the wall and shoot 4 shots at the smallest targets (left most) from 200 to 500. Any one can shoot prone but having to move and find a position  in the van makes this a challenge, pistol skills are needed too. After the shoot we have a mad minute or 3 and shoot popups test loads etc...    We have a zero time at the beginning of the shoot to check zero and fix any problems before the event. There is plenty of help for new shooters, I took an Army Ranger yesterday and he did very well with a borrowed Garand. Next Shoot will be the Korean sniper shoot in January, this shoot will require a scope or be really proficient with iron sights. I will have the schedule for next year out in a week or so.
