Title: Libertyseed, Lee, Maine 5/10/16
Post by: The Old Guide on May 10, 2016, 01:00:03 PM
We just got home from a Libertyseed for 8th graders at Mount Jefferson Junior High. This was the first ever Libertyseed in a Public School in Maine.

Last night I drew a map on the whiteboard that showed Battle Road, the streams, the bridges and the points of interest on Battle road. My map was about 12 feet wide. The 25 students and two teacher's aides loved it. I focused it on the young people such as the young teens who rode off to find their fathers with food packets. I passed around a 3/4 inch steel ball bearing which is a lot like a musket ball. North Country Lady told the first two strikes and I told Strike three,

A map really brings it to life. The story is no longer a list of places. When possible, I tell the strikes on a range and draw the map on the ground. The shooters love that. I expect that we will be doing more of these in Maine schools.
