Title: Made it out to Davilla for Dec. 6th and 7th
Post by: DNT...Death N Taxes on December 08, 2008, 12:00:38 AM
Great Appleseed! Lots of shooters and instructors. Excellent breakfast tacos and an excellent rendition of "Dangerous Old Men" from our most-excellent host.....Scout.

I didn't get rifleman.....YET..... but I can now pump 5 rounds from my M1-A into a fist-sized target from 25 yards away....WHILE STANDING....(hey, you've got to crawl before you can walk)

Looking forward to the next event....

Scout does a great job. And when he does Dangerous Old Men, you could almost swear he speaks from experience ::) **)
If I can make Rifleman with an M1A and MAGTECH 147's so can you. Keep after it.

41 Appleseeders Signed In.
23 shooters
13 instructors
1  non-shooter

3  new riflemen - men who know what they are about!
1  new orange hat (way to go Big D)

GREAT weather, great friends, some fine shooting.
We thought it might turn out to be a Davilla eleven-oh-eight Reunion.  It was much better.

more later

I made it out on Sat. I had a blast! I can't wait for the next one, only this time I'm bringing the 10/22 so I fit in with the cool kids and leave the M1A in the safe! Not to mention I'm going broke pulling squeezing the trigger on the .308!  ++)

I seem to recall mentioning earlier that I love the smell of gunpowder in the morning. :) I suspect it was mostly that Brit 308 powder... but who knows. With 30-odd shooters on the line, the powder was aswirl.

Krongard, you saw some definite improvement in your groups from first shots. Towards the end, you looked pretty beat and unhealed injuries will definitely influence your shooting quality. Make sure you get healed up well and don't push your physical capabilities beyond your personal wall. I can attest to that thanks to a left wrist injury earlier this year, which is supposedly healed, but sure feels on occasion like it's not totally healed. When it starts to act up, it screws with my rifle platform. :(

Respiratory Pop is right, this AS was great.

BlazerGuy: Feel free to bring both your 308 and your 22. You can start with the LTR on Saturday and use the 308 on Sunday. Thats a good mix of training with lower cost ammo and then effective training with your MBR.

While Scout does give a great rendition of Dangerous Old Men, Sunday's excellent delivery was, in fact, from Sir Not Appearing In This Film.
While I have loved all the deliveries of all the strikes and side stories, I must admit that Didactic's Dangerous Old Men was my favorite. Probably because he is one.  O0
Like SNAITF said on Sunday, it is real easy to picture 3HolePete as Hezekiah Wyman with the white hair.  ;)

Oh....my Bust....I was thinking about Scout's delivery of "Dangerous Old Men" at the campfire on Saturday night (you know...right before things started to freeze...) 'Sir Not Appearing In This Film' did give the official rendition very well on Sunday. O0

FYI....Midway USA is expecting Wolf brand, Berdan-primed .308 500-round battlepacks around 12/27/08 if anybody is looking for cheap (relatively speaking) non-reloadable shoot-em-up ammo.
