Title: SACRAMENTO JULY 11-12-----AAR
Post by: NorCal22Gal on July 15, 2015, 01:08:38 AM
Every time I think it can't get any better...it does...

What an amazing weekend!

The weather was wonderful after the last few weeks of hot weather, having temps in the upper 80's was amazing.

Saturday saw 14 folks come out to the Sacramento Valley Shooting Center to participate in our event.

4 were youth, our posterity.

We began with the safety briefing as usual, then the morning Red Coat.

Eaglescouter and Ducky, turned on the fire hose and we were off...  One thing became evident with the first few squares, these folks were here to learn and learn well.

2 of the youth were 9 yrs old, one played designated sniper all day, but showed that she was going to be able to do all the positions soon enough.  The other rocked her single shot rifle and proved that she was going to be able to put it all together too.  The other youth 12 & 15 worked hard to put the skills to use.

7 of our students were from the same Air National Guard unit...Thanks Mark for finally getting your guys to get off their couches and come out!  It was great to have you all there.

We took a break for lunch and the strikes.  Well done everyone...

Back to the firing line and some nice groups began to appear.

Nice high scores on the AQT.

Finished off with the Red Coat.

Sunday and 11 folks returned.  Anika, Todd and Weston, you were missed.

A quick review and we started the AQT's.  Don (225), Doug (211) and Bill (218) were our first Riflemen of the day.  Right before lunch, Dave posted a 213.   ^:)^

We stopped for lunch and told the stories of the Dangerous Old Men and the Determined Dangerous Dames to remind us all that the events of the day weren't just about the group, but there were individuals that made a difference that day as well.

Back on the line, Doug posted a 214 to back up his 211, Dave backed his 213 up with a nice 217.  Then  Neff, who made Rifleman a couple years ago, posted a very nice 221, followed by a 224.   ^:)^

Neff also decided to join the Appleseed instructor team!!  Welcome aboard Neff!!

Nice job guys!

Katie, posted a very nice personal best of 156!!  Keep up the great work.

Those who didn't score Rifleman...please realize that you are Riflemen in your heart and soul...Keep practicing.  The score will come.

Thank you to all who helped us set up and stayed to help us tear down and clean up, it was very much appreciated!

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU TO MY WONDERFUL INSTUCTORS!!!

Hope to see all of you again some time...bring more friends!

Laurie

What a pleasure, to share the "Appleseed Experience" with such a receptive and grateful group!! It's so exciting for us, and makes it all worthwhile.

And what a joy to see all the kids out there, giving their best! Keep up your hard work, Anika, Izzy, Katie and Will--what you learned over the weekend, will carry forward with you if you go to the range with your families and together, work to remember all the things we taught you.

Thanks to all of you again, for coming out to our event. We hope to see you (and all your friends and families! :cool2:  ) back again soon!
