Title: Annapolis, MD (AAFG); May 23-24, 2015; AAR
Post by: WhyWon on May 25, 2015, 12:40:30 AM
This was a most memorable Memorial Day weekend Appleseed here in Annapolis, MD.
The weather was absolutely perfect for both Saturday and Sunday.

We had 9 students on the line Saturday.
We dropped one from Saturday and added two for a total of 10 on Sunday.
The whole group were pre-registered attendees who all brought a teachable attitude.
Though no new Riflemen were minted, we were quite close with two students getting 209 scores.
It sure wasn't for lack of trying; on Sunday these dedicated Appleseeders did a total of 10 AQT's, including a few Rapid Fire AQTs.
And one first-time Appleseeder cleaned a RedCoat target on Sunday, earning a Maryland Front Sight patch (
see posted photo below (https://appleseedinfo.org/smf/index.php?topic=45629.msg320247#msg320247)).

It was great to watch everyone on Sunday internalize "Talking Targets", diagnosing their own shot groups and applying corrective measures, all with a positive attitude.  At least half of the students saw about a 25 point improvement  from their first to their best AQT, with many scoring in the 170-200 range.

Many thanks to:
- MikeC for BlueHatting on Sat
- MedievalEngineer for being LB, demoing positions, and bringing loaner rifles & mats on Saturday
- ColdWarrior for being LB and doing 2nd/3rd Strikes & DOM with a little re-enactment flair on Sunday, and
- TheTopher for his instruction, demoes, and filling gaps as needed on Sunday

I was pinch-hitting for the first-time as SB this weekend and it was a great experience.  I gained insight into the challenges & delicate work of a SB; trying to keep the class at the right pace,  doing all you can to be encouraging & supportive to help maximize learning and enjoyment, and above all: striving to make it a safe shoot.

And most importantly, many thanks to all those that came out on Memorial Day weekend to shoot.

We remember & honor the brave men & women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our Nation since April 19, 1775 and are mindful of the Freedom we've inherited.

And you were worried about time... The # of AQTs we accomplished and the round-count tell the tale. You (we) were very efficient, my friend. Great job!

Travis traveled over a thousand miles to get his much coveted "Maryland Front-Sight" patch from WhyWon. Great Job Travis!

"Don't think.
Feel.
It is like a finger pointing a way to the moon.
Don't concentrate on the finger...
Or you will miss all that heavenly glory."

Ha! That was EPIC!

I wish I could take credit for the line, but it was from:

Bruce Lee's "Don't Think! FEEL !" scene from 'Enter The Dragon'

Enjoy!
