Title: Christmas Day Annual Delaware Crossing Re-enactment
Post by: StevenK on September 25, 2014, 03:31:16 AM
Christmas Day:  If anyone is so inclined, there is an annual "Washington Crossing the Delaware" reenactment on Christmas Day in New Hope PA. Go through the town and drive a little, then you will come to the Park. We will be there.  We did this about two years ago and it was really a lot of fun. Dress warmly. The events are well attended, and we should have a rally point for Appleseed people.  Here is the link.

61st Annual Christmas Crossing
Admission: FREE Admission
Each December, thousands of people gather on the banks of the Delaware to watch the reenactment of George Washington's daring 1776 river crossing. During the event, visitors watch as two hundred reenactors in Continental military dress listen to an inspiring speech by Washington and then row across the river in three replica Durham boats and the battoe "Moon", a small river boat. Come and reflect on the historic activities of 1776 and witness this great commemorative event.

New Hope itself is a quaint little artsy craftsy village.  A must visit if you are in the area.  There is an old fashioned ice cream parlor there that makes their own small batches with VERY UNIQUE flavors.  It's a must visit!!!

Yup, was born and raised in eastern Pennsylvania.  I know these things!!  ;D
