Title: Annapolis, MD June 28-29 LadySeed After Action Report

We had a wonderful weekend of shooting and history at our gracious host range, Anne Arundel Fish and Game.

Ten dangerous dames came from across the east coast to learn about our heritage and improve their marksmanship. As we met ladies at check in we were amazed to hear that half our shooters were from out of state - coming from Connecticut, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Kentucky.

We had a great weekend of watching the ladies improve and learn. There were two mother-daughter pairs on the line. Sonia was shooting with the group's designated marksman (bipod shooter) Sylvia. Sylvia was possibly the happiest shooter I have ever seen. Every time shooters went to the line for prep period Sylvia's grin spread from ear to ear. Christine was shooting with her multiple time rifleman daughter Ari. Both ladies were a joy to have on the line, as usual and earned the coveted Maryland front sight patch for cleaning their redcoat targets. We're all looking forward to Chris rounding out the Appleseed members of the family and getting her rifleman patch!

Suzanne and Sherri came from out of town for a ladies' weekend. Sherri was a new shooter at the start of the weekend, but you certainly wouldn't be able to tell from her handling or safing of the rifle. Or from the size of her groups. She was one of three shooters to earn front sight patches  ^:)^, and is extremely close to pushing her score over the line to rifleman.

Cissy showed great perseverance in overcoming the frustration of a loose action screw. Her groups suddenly opened up and fortunately our shoot boss swept in with a screw driver to tighten everything down and get Cissy's groups back the way they were supposed to be. Some more practice with the awkward positions and I know that Cissy will be an excellent banner-carrier for us lady members of the Meade Rifle and Pistol Club  O0

Rita, Georgia, and Jenny all showed up on Sunday morning with sore right shoulders from long stocks. One thing we see in LadySeeds is that rifles that fit men aren't necessarily the same as rifles that fit women. Rita, Georgia, and Jenny all came head to head with this problem. Even as they fought with this on Saturday, and then fought through learning new rifles (with shorter stocks) on Sunday these women all showed the persistence and learning attitudes necessary to be riflemen.

I had a ton of fun working with this group of students. I really enjoyed the engagement, the enthusiasm and the positive attitudes that I saw up and down the line. I hope to see each and every one of these students out again (though some I'll understand if I only see them online in pictures so they don't have to drive ;))

Thanks everyone for a wonderful weekend!

What a terrific bunch of shooters! Thank you all for coming out. I don't think I've ever seen a group of students so eager and enthusiastic to learn.

And we are especially excited that Ari has decided to join us and take an orange hat!  O0 She will make a wonderful addition to Maryland's instructor crew.
