Title: Three Forks MT April26-27 2014
Post by: Mark Davis on April 26, 2014, 09:20:54 PM
Cool wet Saturday after a good soaking Friday night the weather forcasters did their best to convince people to stay home, sit on the couch and watch cartoons.
The  70% rain forcast turned out to be light scattered sprinkles  untill about 4 PM.
Eight shooters on the line,  One new rifleman so far.

Eight Awakened Americans braved the early morning mist to listen to American History, and rediscover their American Heritage.  The "Samuel Whittemore Memorial Range" lived up to its reputation with fantastic alpine vistas, snow topped mountains, and energetic weather.  The wind was continuous, as was the drizzly mist that kept the temperature down all day Saturday.  Marksmanship was introduced and we watched groups shrink.  Joel Hiester showed us his "A" game, and, on Saturday, was the first shooter to win the right to wear the Rifleman Patch.  By the end of the day we were wet and cold on the outside, but we could feel the warmth of liberty growing inside.

Sunday dawned with typically beautiful "Frozen Sunshine".  The wind picked up as four brave Americans returned to face the target line.  As we started our first AQT of the day, Patriot Gal and Castle Mountain arrived to see the beauty that Montana has to offer.  Both experienced instructors awakened their rimfire rifles from a long winter's nap and re-qualified as riflemen.  Then turned their collective experience to help Parker and Sean overcome their hurdles and demonstrate that they were riflemen who know very well what they are about.

^:)^ Huzzah!  ^:)^ Huzzah!  ^:)^ Huzzah!  ^:)^

Sean Smith graciously accepted an Orange Hat, and is excited to help us bail.  >:D

Thank you to everyone who made this weekend great.

Special Thanks to Ted Beardsly for his continuing support and the use of his private range.   O0

Photos to follow.

Special thanks to Parker for your fantastic Living History presentation.   Your hand-made equipment really helped to bring the history home.

The Patriot's Day Red Coat target was the perfect target for the black powder demonstration.

We also were able to spend some time with another fantastic historic American Rifle.  The M1 Garand.

Two M1 Garands made quite the melody on Sunday Afternoon.
