Title: Lebanon, CT @ Bozrah Rod and Gun Club, March 22-23, 2014

A small but persistent group of Americans made for a nice start to the outdoor season in Ct. this past weekend.

Hosted by the Bozrah Rod and Gun club, 8 shooters went the distance for two days and showed us that ammo shortages, restrictive laws and wind wouldn't hamper their enthusiasm for marksmanship and our colonial American heritage.

Once the Saturday morning introduction and safety rules were read the real work began with Heavyduty77 and edleit coaching the students and getting the usual slings adjusted, groups inspected and corrections made. Time does fly and at lunch the first strike was told. Second and third were told throughout the course of the afternoon and positions, ball and dummy and introduction to the AQT wound up the day. Our am and pm redcoats were fairly close on the count, however.

Sunday started cooler and less windy. After the am redcoat and a tune up on squares the AQT grind commenced with some more personal attention given to all of the students. The net result was a new rifleman! Matt, who pushed it hard for the first few cranked out a 228! Nice shooting Matt!

A short break from AQT's to get a lesson on known distance was taught early afternoon with all shooters trying their chosen rifles out to 100 yards. Yes, including the 22's. There were a couple of eye openers there, for sure.

All of the other shooters saw improvement over the course of the day. Dave pushing it in the 190's. Joshua, our jr shooter getting hits on the redcoat target. Marc getting more consistent with the 22 instead of hammering it out with the Mosin. Yes, it does hammer on both ends!

Altogether a safe and satisfying event. The group was great to work with, eager to take in the story along with the instruction. The IT crew was great, covering the line well and spending the extra time to get a little more to the shooters.

A big thanks goes out to Bozrah Rod and Gun club, especially Bill. He has covered these events and done the cooking for all of the ones I've attended and has been the driving force behind Appleseed being there. Hope to have another in the future.

Hope to have some pics up fairly soon. If you have them, post them. Regards, Tominct

Thank you Tom and Ed for a great weekend! A very special thanks to Pete for working with Joshua almost exclusively. Especially the time a patience you put into his learning. He came away with a good grasp on techniques and a real love for marksmanship. I was truly amazed at how much he remembered as we retold the stories of our weekend. I was honestly apprehensive about even going since Joshua has only been shooting for a week and myself only 3 weeks. It was most definitely worth it and memorable. We took away more knowledge from it than we would have had we just kept plinking away at home.

Thank you to those who offered us ammo. We will pay the use forward.

We will most definitely be back next year! We have our AQT's and Redcoats ordered so watch out for us ;) !
