Some time back I read a story outlining homocide stats in different areas.
The data provided did not reflect the info I had ,so I checked further and discovered homocide is different than murder . If a cop or citizen kills someone in self defense it is considered a homocide ,also included in homocide stats are death penalty executions .
Words have exact precise meanings and those who have read the Orwell novel 1984 know certain political ideologues will change words to mislead.
Has anyone besides me used homocide when they really meant murder ?
