Title: Crittenden, KY, AAR - Nov. 23-25, 2012
Post by: Unbridled Liberty on November 22, 2012, 01:48:05 PM
We had 16 fine Americans turn out to learn about rifle marksmanship and their heritage on Black Friday.  The weather was cool and sometimes breezy, but very nice for shooting.  10 shooters returned for Saturday and 8 came back for Sunday for some KD out to 300 meters.

First, congratulations to our new Rifleman, Tim!  Tim shot a 210 with his 5.56 AR!  Also congratulations to Tim for bringing his brother Tanner and his wife Angel.   O0  James, thank you for coming and special thanks for "taking good care of the children" by bringing your daughter India with you.  She is a wonderful young lady and you should be very proud of her.  We can't wait for her to get to 8th grade  ;D.

Howard, thanks for coming back and bringing Chris.  You showed great improvement and will soon be a Rifleman.  Chris, I hope you had a good time and that you will return.  Justin, I see a Rifleman patch in your future as well.  Nice meeting you and thank you for your service.  Rick, thanks for coming out and bringing Jeff.  You both will be Riflemen in short order.  Harvard, David, Tammy, Dean, Matt and LeaAnne; thanks for coming out Friday and I hope we see you again soon.

Thanks to Boadicea, Barbie, Hindsight and Slim for stepping up to help.  Also thanks to the Indiana KD crew on Sunday; SPQR, Slow2Speak and tater.

Thanks for the links!  And thanks UL for shoot-bossing.

I will get the book and sling as soon as my new bank card arrives.  Turns out the reason it wasn't working over the weekend was someone tried to hijack it on Friday for $2.50 and the bank's fraud detector went off and shut it off.  I had to buy gas with cash on the way down there.  Good reason to always have $50 cash on you.

We could not have hoped for better weather. (well, maybe warmer, but for November it wasn't bad)

It was great when we went to the KD range.  It was fun throwing lead at the steel Redcoat.  Barbie, I dunno how you handle that Mosin, its kinder gentler cousin whooped my shoulder in no time flat.  But you shoot it like a boss.  I was ok the next day.

I am glad we are going to do more KD in the future.

It was good meeting the Bedford Contingent.   ..:..

And one more!  India shooting clay pigeons.  Note splash of near-miss in inset.

It was great working with all of you guys, both shooters & instructors.  It was nice seeing how ya'll "self-diagnosed" yourselves when we went downrage to take a look at your targets.  Everyone improved a lot, great job!  ..:.. Also, everyone seemed very interested in the history portions of the weekend.  Don't go keepin' all that knowledge to yourself.  Tell others, and invite 'em out to a shoot.

I have some more pictures also, will come back here and post 'em when I get home *hopefully*!

Come out to another Appleseed event, bring your friends...

Who knows, there may even be rifleman's fudge to keep ya moving throughout the day!

It was great fun this weekend.  My wife is already talking about who all she is taking with her to a ladyseed next year.
