This was a good shoot which started out with an above average group of shooters and ended with good progress. There was excellent instruction from our IITs Mechanic, Wy Knott, worM2, and goose.
The weather Saturday was generally good, and we ended a morning installment of shooting with the first strike from Wy Knott followed by the second strike according to goose. At the end of the second strike, we had a 30 minute shower and decided to commit the time to the third strike (from goose) under the shelter. After that it became cooler; we finished our instruction program for the day and got in one AQT and our redcoats.
Sunday was a much smaller affair, though we did a short rifle maintenance class (and got some much needed swivels and a sling on Shannon's rifle). We also covered some topics of the philosophy of liberty and dangerous old men and technical riflery at lunch. Ben came through with a 210 and a 213 for his rifleman patch, and Shannon came in with a relatively strictly graded 209. The wind tried to take Shannon's pop up as a casualty, but we all resolved to persevere in our efforts to secure liberty for future generations.

Franklin Farmer, as always, runs a great weekend retreat on the Rifle Range, as witnessed by most of his family turning out to participate!
Returning Appleseeders and first-time participants both did great improvement, and the weather actually cooperated much more than anticipated on Saturday. Sunday was spectacular with a hint of Fall, and probably helped with the enthusiasm of making sore muscles get to respond.
My first Strike 2 and 3 presentation, and a lot of room to improve to do the story the justice it deserves.
I definitely have to start packing a camera.
The students were finished for the afternoon on Sunday, and shootboss and his two wingmen got in some work at 100 yds with some late afternoon range members. We got a treat to watch a master of CMP shoots, Don Rutherford, put some very respectable hits in the 10 ring from 100 yds standing with a 1903a3. Never missing an opportunity to 7th step, some talk of Appleseed and trifolds were given to the range members.
