Title: Winona, MN Sept 1-2 COF (experimental post)
Post by: Cooper on August 31, 2012, 01:47:41 AM
Appleseed Instructors and participants for Sept 1-2 at the Winona AS event:

Experimental posting of the Course of Fire (COF) for instructors and students to review/preview (hey, I'm letting you students into Top Secret planning information. If you find this helpful or horrifying let me know, 'cause I'm risking my voluntary career releasing this shocking information that Appleseed wants to rescue our Nation) ...

If this doesn't work, pm me with your snailmail address and I'll try to get it out between patients tomorrow morning or evening (NO GUARANTEES).

My trashed lumbar spine imploded last weekend and I had epidural spinal injections today to try and remain at least minimally mobile.  I will not be able to arrive at Winona until Sat AM and have been ordered not to lift anything heavier than a gallon of milk.  Yeah, right.  The RH's and SB qualified RHs will be running the show while I'm restrained in Jackie the Rifledog's throne and writing minor critiques in a little black book.  Remember that our students are the most important people in our lives this weekend, and that they are the most important people in the rescue of our beleaguered Nation.  Treat every student as the Rifleman that they will become if we are to remain the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave.  Yeah, that Patriot cliche stuff, 'cause what was true 235 years ago is still true, human nature and needs don't change over time, only political cliches change.

Coop,
Thanks for the COF. I like to read and compare them. I usually find a good idea to steal. One question: "explain Texas and effective range" I understand effective range, what's Texas got to do with it?

I also really like the theory of this one: 3 - [ NPOA - Cadence - demonstrate carding --Upper right; 5 rds; card sights[instructors]  HAVE EACH STUDENT TRY DEMO LASER/NPOA CHECKS, THEN SEND TO FIRING LINE FOR CARDING SIGHTS How long does this take per student? Am I safe to assume you have several Demo Lasers? Do the shooters have a problem waiting or are they happy for a break at this point?

Thanks

At the bottom of the Redcoat target is a little note about the performance of a group of "of course we can shoot" Texans

Laser NPOA/carding takes about 5-6 min per student, and I have half a dozen demo lasers. Shooters like the potty break time, but you do need to keep it moving.  It's a good opportunity for quick history lessons.

Fred has/had a deal...6 m-14 stocks for $108. I bought them along with some $2 E Bay laser pointers and the box full of GI slings I have accumulated intending to do what Cooper is doing. She again has inspired me, this time to dig the stocks/lasers out of the pile on my workbench and get 'er done.

we used it today at the Winona Appleseed

I think it was worth the time we spent on it.  I think the students thought that way too.
