Title: SB 249 (the intended regulation of the "bullet button")
Post by: gonejohnny on June 25, 2012, 12:07:19 PM
SB 249 is a bill introduced by California State Senator Leland Yee, which ostensibly seeks to regulate the "bullet button." On first read, the bill appeared to ban assemblies such as magnetic buttons that mount on top of the bullet button, thus converting the legal firearm into an AW [Assault Weapon]. These tools are already illegal to deploy, and this apparent ill-conceived redundancy lulled the active CA firearm community into not taking this bill seriously . . .

However, a more penetrating legal analysis of the matter by Davis & Associates (http://stopsb249.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/sb249_analysis.pdf (http://stopsb249.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/sb249_analysis.pdf)) reveals that the bill is far more insidious than first conventionally thought. Aspects of its language can be interpreted very broadly, inclusive of banning the sale, transportation, and possession of any "evil" feature, on the basis that any individual feature or combination of any of these features can potentially put you on the road to constructing an illegal platform.

Despite some initial stagnation, and alleged hesitation on the part of Senator Yee himself, this bill appears to be moving through the legislature.

Will this go to a committee for further discussion and then a vote ?

More cal-gunners than i expected endorsed gov brown as being progun . So far I have not seen proof indicating he is a friend of 2a

As for Sen Yee -- he should be a poster boy for a part time legislature ,with all the serious budget and revenue problems facing we californians .
This guy has time to waste on implimenting part of the globalist wish list that will  do ZERO to keep folks safe .

Ok folks lets get on this one . Your gun will be next
.Oh yes ,elections do have consequences  :DH:

this is important to stop --if it gets into law ARs will no longer be used at AS with any chance of making standard.

Lets see if we can stop this  O0

GoneJohnny... Thanks for hanging the lantern in the steeple on this one.  I've already started spreading the word.

We Californians had to wait too long to right this wrong.  The rest of the country might think that a "bullet button" was not much of a fix.  But, it has made it possible for many of us to own a capable and competitive rifle after tens of years of denial by the State Legislature.

No time to rest, ever vigilant.

SB 249 is expected to be heard and voted on next Tuesday, July 3 in the state Assembly Committee on Public Safety. This is also the deadline date for ALL legislation to pass or fail in the state Senate and Assembly policy committees for the 2012 legislative session. The state Assembly Committee on Public Safety needs to hear from ALL of California's gun owners and sportsmen urging them to OPPOSE SB 249. Contact information for the Committee members can be found here. Senator Yee and his staff also need to hear from California gun owners expressing their outrage that the Senator would suggest such a bill and urge him to pull SB 249 from the agenda. Senator Yee and his staff can be reached at 916-651-4008 and by e-mail here or at Senator.Yee@senate.ca.gov. CA Legislator Contact Info

great advice PD  O0
Those who faced british bayonets would expect no less.
If the live in another state and want to help --make the calls  --star 67 will block the area code and your number . Or you can remind them about how if this passes-your taking Disneyland or california off your tourist destination--just on principle  .

This is more than a california thing , garbage cans can  fill up and overflow to other area's
