Title: Nasvhille, IN 5 May 2011
Post by: SPQR on April 28, 2012, 03:14:14 PM
We had 7 shooters turn out for a special day at Hoosier Hills Gun Club.  They were graduate interns working with a local political office and one of their mentors decided they needed to learn a little something about American Marksmanship.  They, of course, turned to the legendary talents of myself to christen their journey.

A thanks goes to HHGC and Brian Heeter for handling the logistics, hawkhavn for getting the event set up, the Bedford Contingent for providing chow, and Hal for taking responsibility for passing on the heritage.  Also, thanks to the shooters for showing up with teachable attitudes and making it happen.

Congratulations to the new Rifleman, Taylor, who displayed the learning and calm spirit of the new Rifleman.  Congratulations to the rest who represented Indiana University pretty durn well.  Who new that IU and the United States Rifle Cal.30 Model 1 was match made in heaven?

That was a fun way to spend a Friday, I think!  We had a pretty broad range of experience represented on the line.  Some of them were comfortable behind a rifle.  For some it had been years since they had done any shooting.  For others this was completely new.  By the end all were representing themselves admirably.

Everybody showed improvement and it was great to see the enthusiam when it came time to get behind the Garand.  The steel gong got punished!  Thanks to Rimshot for bringing his M1 along and letting the students all have a go at it.

Thanks to the Bedford Contingent for making the trip and breaking out the grill.  Mmmmm, burgers!  That beats whatever I was going to bring 'cause it would have been cold.

Another great day of marksmanship and heritage at HHRP.  Looking forward to the next one already!

C ya,

brian

Glad you guys had a good shoot, but when exactly did it take place?  The date in the thread title is slightly confusing

This was a one day event on Friday, April 27th.  It was a super-secret, Skunkworks, stealth, flyin'-under-the-radar operation.  Success!
