Title: More LEO involvement I hope
Post by: Ramblin' Wreck on April 27, 2012, 09:34:57 AM
One of my best friends is the President of the Georgia Fraternal Order of Police. I asked him to help us promote Appleseed in Georgia. Check out the first link on the top of their web page titled "Free to Law Enforcement."

Let me know if anyone detects increased LEO activity in the coming months.

Thanks Fred,
I'll take a look. I think we really need to focus on these folks who need to be standing with us for the Constitution as we try to reclaim our Liberty.

Ben,

OathKeepers is getting organized here in Georgia. They are working out regional leadership and meetups. The group by default is targeted to reaching out to LEO and military: veterans, reserve and active duty. I am sure you are aware of the group and many are already participants in Appleseed.

Getting more Oath Keepers involved and having them promote Appleseed as well I think would help to gain more awareness of AS goals by LEO.

We need to reach out to both LEOs and their families.  Most LEOs work rotating shifts and on a daily basis see the worst side of people and their communities.  Take an opportunity to invite their wife and kids to make it a family event. Most LEOs "think" they can shoot.  Offer to help their love ones shoot and then invite the LEOs along to help out.  A lot of LEOs are prior military and now a lot are combat vets from Iraq and Afghan.  Those LEOs and their families are worth reaching out to.

There is also a national LEO Explorer program through Boy Scouts of America. It is similar to JROTC.  LEO Explorers are youth who are interested in learning more about law enforcement.  We could reach out to the LEO groups offering to provide marksmanship training to the youth in the program. The explorer advisors/trainers are comprised of local law enforcement officers and agents. NRA has a pistol program. But there are no rifle marksmanship programs.  There are over 33,000 youth explores and over 8,000 adult volunteers.  Imagine bringing 40,000 people to Appleseed and reaching out to law enforcement at the same time.
