Title: Dallas/FortWorth, TX - Quail Creek: April 21-22, 2012
Post by: spitstickler on April 24, 2012, 05:02:54 PM
We had great weather and a superb group of shooters with us this weekend to celebrate Patriot's Day. We started the morning off with and introduction to the program, the importance of this weekend, and a safety brief. After a short walk up the hill we were soon putting our first rounds down range on our initial Red Coat target.

Then we began the instruction covering positions, steady hold factors, natural point of aim, and the six steps to firing the shot. Floyd gave the 1st strike  over lunch and we followed it up with more instruction.

Around 2:15 we took a break, gave the 2nd strike and talked about the Liberty Volley we were about to preform at 3:00. We dug into a few of the details of the people we were about to honor and we had many volunteers come forward to read a few sentences on each individual. Some had more information we can find on them than others, but they all had a mother, a father, as well as other friends and relatives who undoubtedly mourned their loss 237 years ago. Thank you all for participating in this. It is a highlight for me every year.

On Sunday a Rifleman appeared on her first AQT. Congratulations, Andrea!!!  :~

We had many scores that were sooooooo close!

Thank you everyone for coming out. Special thanks to Floyd, David, Marietta, Jeremy, Ashley, and our newest member to the Instructor staff, Tim! These events couldn't happen without you.
