Title: Our NM politicos at the State Fair
Post by: TaosGlock on October 04, 2011, 01:49:31 AM
One of the goals of the Appleseed Project is to have an Appleseeder in the WH. So NM is doing it's part in a big way.
Alamogordo, Albuquerque, and IIRC, Roswell also have had their local Reps come out and even shoot!

As you know, we did the SNM State Fair in Dona Ana County in Las Cruces. It is a great venue, bigger and more diverse than a gunshow, but too pricey for a table. We were graciously given a table donated by the Dona Ana County Whig Republican Party (DARP). At the other end of the table, the Whigs DARP signed up people and sent them to us for Appleseed info and a chance to win an M1 from the CMP.
Great folks who loved our message and the fact we had a rifle to attract folks to the DARP booth.

The raffle was in conjunction with the DARP and American Gun Culture, our local Las Cruces gun club.
They liked the relationship so much that we were asked back next year for 2012 which will be just a month from the Presidential election. And I am sure every single NM rep will be there. So another opportunity to 7th step our politicos.

Here are a few that got Appleseeded and gave us permission to use their pics and to show their support of the 2nd Amendment.

Here is BlueFeather and Natalie Chadborn. Wife, mother, entrepreneur and active volunteer, Natalie is seeking a seat in City Council  District 1 Las Cruces.

Here is Fred Espinosa. He is seeking a seat on City Council in District 2 Las Cruces. He will be a strong voice for Las Cruces.

Remember all politics is local. These folks may make it to DC or the WH some day.

And Las Cruces Mayor Ken Miyagishima stopped by. Remember him?
Mayor Miyagishima dropped his call to pass a resolution to require background checks on all individuals who purchase guns within the city and at gun shows.  He announced this message just before the Feb. 2011 gun show. This, after being informed that the NM Constitution specifically forbids cities and counties from passing gun control laws, that CLC should go ahead and pass one anyway and let the matter be decided in court.

He bought a raffle ticket from us and later got a civics lesson from this young lady.
He is pro-gun now and got his CCW. He was actually, by a fluke, in the same CCW class as his opponent for next Mayor, Dolores Connors.

And our DC Congressman Steve Pearce, who will be seeking Democrat Senator Jeff Bingaman's seat.
L-R. Me, Congressman Pearce, Bev Courtney, President of AGC who has been to 2 of our shoots and a great supporter.

Yeah, I know we are not partisan, but The Tory Democrat side panicked at the sight of a rifle on the table and pics of happy Appleseed shooters. But DARP welcomed us. And was it ever a success.

Civic Responsibility-it is what we preach at Appleseeds. Get involved today with your Reps!!

So now, back to filling those firing lines! :~

Yep, We just had the SENM Fair, paired up with the Tea Party and 2ATF to hand out AS info and shoot flyers. It went over real well. Chatted with several of our State reps, Mayors, etc....Gave the Senate ProTem 2 copies of the Constitution, reading it once obviously hasn't been enough! :)...O.L.

We had a decent turnout for our Roswell AS, but not a one was as the result of our efforts at the fair. :DH: Most all either heard it on the radio, word of mouth, or personally invited by an instructor.....O.L.
