Hello all, we have a special opportunity here...on Feb 4-5-6 in Baraboo, WI we will be having an Advanced IBC
for anyone who is IIT3 and up for all current instructors (can be under IIT3). What is an AIBC, you ask? Read below Fred's special message to find out. The AIBC will take place at Old Glory's and Colycat's residence, starting at 6 pm on Feb 4 and go to 6pm on Feb 6. When I can find the actual EIP for it, I will post it.
*Edit* Mogget replied with the EIP
QuoteA Special Message from Fred:
This is going out primarily to SCs and RCs.
I am planning to hold a series of six "Advanced IBCs" over the course of the next 12 months.
They will be called "An Advanced Instructor Boot Camp with Fred", and will be restricted to IIT3 and above.
Equivalent to a post-graduate training seminar, these IBCs will cover all the issues, instructor-wise, history-telling-wise, and admin-wise which have arisen in the past year or so in the program.
They are designed to bring active program instructors "up to snuff" and ensure they are on the cutting-edge of the program, in terms of training.
There will be little or no duplication with the regular IBCs hosted around the country, in terms of the material covered - although some similar subject areas will be covered, except at a post-grad level.
The "Advanced IBC with Fred" can be co-scheduled with a regular IBC, since the two sets of students will be entirely different. Or they can be independently scheduled.
There will be no charge associated with "Fred" IBCs.
I am sending this because I cannot get to each of the states which are currently in the AS program, not with only six of these in the next 12 months. (I may be able to add a few more if there's enough demand.) I hope some of you SCs will seize an opportunity to get some cutting-edge education and training for your instructor corps and set up a date in your state for doing one. Right now, you can pick any month, but since I only can do one a month, as a month gets picked, it gets scratched from the sched for everyone else. I'll figure a way to let you keep posted on which months get taken.
All I ask of you is that, if you schedule one of these, you make an effort to get the word out to your IC and neighboring states so we can get as many as possible there.
I will do my best to leave your ITs more educated about the program, more effective as "tellers of the history", and more motivated as Appleseeders. Whew! Sounds like a lot of work!
If you can fit one of these in your state's schedule, PM me with the date ASAP.
Thanks.
I hope you have been encouraged by recent developments in the program. I know I have been. We need to always keep pushing, to keep things moving, and the program growing - so think Winterseed - and April 19th is right around the corner. The time to start setting up 4/19 dates is right now.
Sincerely,
Fred the Helpful

Hey, Taylor!
I have absolutely no say in the matter, but I anticipate that you will be promoted to at least IIT4 by Fred. He appears to be REALLY smart and intuitive WRT to people's motivations and abilities. I would think that the celestial training crew of WI or MN should be able to elevate you to at least the rank of Nicholas ("Blessed Warrior") or Reginald ("Kingmaker"). My own genealogical lineage ties directly to the royal Tudor family (rejected by my colonial ancestors) in VA/SC/TN, Francis Marion (the Swamp Fox) and multiple progenitors in the NY Colonial Militia throughout the central Hudson Valley into western NY and PA.
YOU, however, cut straight through the cr*p to "mojo equipped patriot/stand out of my way, you pompous genealogist Anglophile and let me accept responsibility for defending my Nation, my rights and my Heritage."
I can't imagine that the WI and MN movers&shakers will not escort you through the approval process; you are a clear and most promising asset to the Appleseed Project. I sure as heck wouldn't stand in your way, and I'm heavily armed, armored and well dug in.
Then again, I'm just a grunt, YMMV.
In summary: You rock, T and J! I hope to be able to enjoy your hospitality again very soon.

Really !!!! The Superbowl??? I had no idea. Of course one of my favortie sayings at an AS is who affects your future more, some sports star or your representative. Who's stats should you know more of?
I signed up through Eventbrite. Looking forward to seeing familiar faces and meeting new people.

Blessings upon you, oh most wise leader...
I'm signed up. Thanks Trisha. Thanks Deacon. And thanks for your encouragement Coop.
I'm on your page Ron. Before becoming "semi-retired", my thought was always no matter who wins on Sunday, I still had to go to work on Monday. Sports can easily become a distraction from what really matters in life.
I'll be bringing some Italian beef style venison roast to the AIBC.

Some of these things are pretty densely written, and it may pay to print out a copy so you can review again just before the IBC. These posts I made embody a small portion of the AIBC - but an important portion.
Thanks in advance to all who have committed to being at this event. It should be an interesting weekend. O0
Hello Group; I had hoped to make it up to this on but we have a Show in Princeton that we had commited to do promos.... Next time, Thanks Pappy

Looking forward to the AIBC.
you need to get every instructor you can to the AIBC. I mean, why wouldn't take every opportunity to visit beautiful baraboo? No excuses. Fred will appoint one of you to keep track of time for breaks to the facilities, select your best line boss, if you waste too much time messing around you will blow an opportunity to get better. Take it from experience, I BLEW IT! :-[
No excuses

Well heck! That's twice the amenities of my 'house'!
Unnamed elements of the Minnesota Contingent are already in route.
I, as well, shall be partaking in the epic campaign.
With determined anxiety you await our imminent arrival. Unsure what the barbarians of the frozen tundra have in store.
I shan't disclose the details; however I imagine we're conjuring something. Perhaps, something like this:

Hello All, what a great weekend. It was good to see folks from MN, IA, IL and WI 28 attendee's in total 29 with Fred (NC). Yes that is a record. WI has the largest AIBC on record, so far :cool2: . If you can find a way to get to one of these AIBC's DO NOT MISS THIS OPPORTUNITY. This was not a Fred pep rally. This was serious business, and the word of the weekend was URGENCY. The sky is not falling at Appleseed, but the ship is still sinking at a rapid rate, and 2011 will be the most important year, to date. Find out why, and what you must do to help.
Find out what it takes to have the perfect Appleseed. The mission, the message, the heritage, and the marksmanship. Find out why we must check our ego's at the door.
All question's are welcome. Fred will challenge you to make him angry with a question ;) . Do not be afraid, he will not bite. Fred will challenge you to think :) , and you will learn Appleseed is not about Fred.
Thank's to everyone who came to the Baraboo WI AIBC O0
Pictures, and more to come,
See you on the trail,
D-fly Keeping the Faith
Told ya so!!! Glad you guys had a good time in beautiful baraboo O0
Attending this AIBC was a fantastic experience. To echo the wisdom of Cooper: Attend one of these if at all possible, bring your teachable attitude and learn.
If one wants to know what this program is about...an AIBC with Fred is a must.
Not only will you find what AS is about.....bring a teachable attitude and you will find what YOU are about. O0
Many thanks Fred for an honest evaluation of AS.
AIBC: Find one, attend two!
It'll be worth it! You'll see! Don't hesitate!
I have a confession to make.
I really dread these events. Maybe its the pressure of finding a home for all the attendees or feeding them or something. I don't know. You would think some history with this would alleviate my dread. But it seems to not.
But, This past weekend was really great for me and a little sad at the same time. The sad is that Fred will not be able to do this in our area for maybe another 2 years. Makes me think how important it was for all the instructors to be here.
The Great deserves another paragraph.
Why do I worry about putting up for the weekend a bunch of men and women who know very much what they are about. ++) After all they are all riflemen.
For me, To get thanks from instructors who had to sleep on the floor, is priceless. To get thanks from instructors who brought more food than we could eat, is priceless. To spend 2 and 1/2 days with people who never stopped smiling and laughing, is priceless.
In Appleseed, I know and love the best people that God has ever made. And I am thankful for that.
BTW, we did laugh a lot. Just like at an Appleseed.
Thank you to all who came, thank you to Fred, who makes it all possible, thank you to the founders for giving us the greatest country mankind has ever known.
Lets keep it.........
Coly, I guess building a bigger house by Friday WAS a bit much to ask. **)
BIG thanks to D-fly for stepping up and providing us with a larger facility. It only makes sense that when in Baraboo we meet at Circus City Sportsman's Club; the home of the clownbat. &) :)
The GOOD NEWS is, we have a good number of committed Instructors. 2011 is going to be critical and I am confident we have a crew that will work their hardest to become the most effective team we can be and will advance the mission of Appleseed. I have a better understanding of the pitfalls and distractions that may impede progress to reaching the well defined Appleseed goals.
One of my favorite quotes from the weekend:
Self improvement; the unintended consequence.
Attending an AIBC has many rewards. If you look closely at the pictures, you will see evidence of graduation. Someone in Idaho already noticed it...... :cool2:
Now, to followup on some important notes.
Don't feel bad about regretting it. That base sense of foreboding is a realistic sensation of your mind's understanding of the daunting task at hand. Your mind knows that Riflemen can be a handful at times. Heck, Riflemen drove Washington bonkers every minute they were around except for the minutes they were being Riflemen. Then he wouldn't leave home without them. :---
I am incredibly pleased the Wisconsin crew had such a good time in beautiful Baraboo. It bodes well for AIBCs in other localities and our forthcoming Indiana AIBC in June.
It was great to finally meet Fred and get a little first hand insight to his vision of the past, present and future of Appleseed. It was nice to be able to put faces with names and meet so many people in a single location. ALOT of information was covered and it felt like we had just scratched the surface. I can tell you that I was personally impressed with Fred as a leader with a vision.
Every instructor should be taking the opportunity presented by these AIBCs to meet and talk to the man in person. This is a unique opportunity to hear things straight from Fred and for you to ask those questions you have been dying to ask.
Any instructor in the area who missed this event should be looking at traveling to the next nearest one as I can personally guarantee that it WILL be worth your time and effort. All who consider themselves an instructor or instructor in training nation wide should be making plans to attend one of these events. Those whos favorite past times include complaining on the AS board no longer have an excuse to complain that Fred does not respond to you personally. Here is your opportunity to voice your grievances face to face if you have the fortitude to do so. The man is traveling across the country to personally give you an opportunity to hear in very clear terms what he is expecting from you and what you can expect from him. I believe that Fred can be taken at his word and he definitely expects us to have the same integrity.
This event was motivational. Not in the sense of a pep rally with a cheerleader, but in the realization that we have strong leadership from the front, a solid plan and dedicated people to carry it out.
There is a quote which applies to Appleseed...
QuoteIt is the nature of man to rise to greatness if greatness is expected of him
Fred makes no appologies for expecting greatness out of all of us. As Men and Women who know very well what we are about, it should not be difficult to achieve this simple goal.
Greetings All, The AIBC with Fred was great. My feet never touched the ground after leaving on Sunday. As a matter a fact my feet are still not on the ground, makes walking in deep snow much easier. Thanks are in order to all the great folks for putting on the AIBC. Y.M.H.O.S. Mr. Natural
What a great weekend! I felt it was a total success, but I do wish more people could have been there to hear and talk to Fred since it is so important!!
Pictures coming soon...
