Just attended my first Appleseed in Toccoa. For those of you who don't recognize my "TravelPatriot" name, I was on Doc's line on the rifle range and brought the Iver Johnson M1 Carbine in 22lr.
Anyway, I had a great time and became aware of how much more there is to learn about marksmanship.
I just wanted to thank everyone who volunteered their time and service this weekend. Thanks for being so hospitable. I really appreciate the commitment to creating a family environment where men, women and children can learn and be encouraged.
Just made my first donation to the program and am looking forward to continued involvement.

Welcome Aboard Jake! I was at Toccoa also but was with Deadeye Sat. and Flathead, ColBarrett & Goose Sun. Glad you enjoyed the shoot and and joined the family. I would have loved to see your Iver Johnson .22 M1 Carbine. I remembered them from years ago but could not remember who manufactured them until I ran across a guy who had a couple at a gun show back a few months ago. Both of his had scopes and were missing the original rear sights and he was still asking $300.00 plus for them. Those are some cool looking little rifles. How did yours shoot? I am sure you know there is another shoot in Toccoa Nov. 13&14. There is also a shoot the same weekend in Waco, GA. Waco is a great venue and, for the time being at least, seems to draw a smaller crowd. I hope you consider making it out to either Waco or Toccoa in Nov.

Thanks for the reply. The Iver Johnson .22LR M1 Carbine shoots great! I, on the other hand, need some practice! Mine still has the original rear sight, although I remember losing it while hunting as a kid. My Dad actually found it one day while walking in the fields! It's sill loose, so it must be a chronic problem.
