Title: AAR Dundee, MI Aug 7-8
Post by: Gopher Boy on August 09, 2010, 08:28:18 PM

This was a fantastic shoot.  We had almost a full line on both days, with Saturday bringing shooter all the way from Phillie.  I wish they could have been able to stay for Sunday, however I understand completely.  I'm not sure I could stay for two days if I had driven through the night and had to be at work on Monday morning.  Thanks for making the trip.

The Weather in Dundee was almost perfect for an Appleseed this weekend.  Saturday... Mid 80's partly cloudy and low humidity.  Sunday...  Started out the same as Saturday, but by lunch things were getting back to normal of late.  Upper 80's high humidity and board line miserable.

The hint of bad weather wasn't the only thing that was in the air, there seemed to be a bug there too.  We lost one shooter on both days just before lunch.  Hope you're feeling better gentlemen.

We were not able to mint a new Rifleman, however by the end of Sunday all were knocking on the door. We had several shooters in the 190's.  All I can say is,  DRY fire practice works and stick with it.  In a blink it will all fall into place.

Special thanks to Tony for bringing out his flint lock.  It's always interesting to put it into perspective about what it took in 1775 to fire just one round.   It's a beautiful firearm.
We'll be back at Dundee Sportsman's club next year, hope to see you back out there.

Don't forget to register to be part of history...  The Waterman 300 is right around the corner it would be AWESOME to see all of you there.

Thanks,

G.B.

Nice shoot GB O0
Regarding the "bug" a couple folks got ,could it have been food related? If so.
SS + I have used pharmaceutical grade activated charcoal with excelent results for food related problems . works everytime and quickly too.
SS said hospitals use it for overdoses and food poisening too.
BTW most health food and some grocery stores carry it .

This was a great weekend. Thank you all for making it special for me. Joseph and Nathan, thanks for helping out with the inches minutes clicks. Tony, anytime you need help figuring that out just ask Joseph.  ;) Rachel, your rock girl, hitting that 100 yard target on your first try! Way to go! Centerfire guys, always nice to have some (what my Mom calls) 'big boomers' on the line. Rebecca, you're so close. This is where persistence kicks in. I just hope I'm there when you shoot that elusive 210. Alan, I think I may know what you're going to ask Santa for this year. Big M, love the name. Speaking of names, Nathan, I dub thee 'hot brass magnet'. Once again you got that hot brass on you and maintained your muzzle control. Good job! Superheat, did I see Instructor in Training under your name? Welcome aboard!

Thanks to all the instructors for a great event. We learned a lot and enjoyed ourselves. Glad you liked the flintlock. Only wished I had brought some powder too.

To all the shooters, thanks for attending and making our job fun. Keep dryfiring, and practicing positions, NPOA, and the 6 steps. Remember Rifleman persevere. Hope to see you again at another shoot. I will be at Lapeer if you are interested in attending another event.

Take Care,
Koolman

Same as Butt Stock, I too am just getting my week back in line enough to spend some "free" time posting so please forgive my tardiness.

It was an honor and privilege to share a weekend with members of the Top 1 Percent of America. Young and Old, New and Experienced, Civilian and Military, solid Patriotic Americans one and all.

Congratulations to Miki on the Red Hat! Very pleased to be there for presentation. I particularly enjoyed your presentations.

To all my new friends, the shooters, you are a solid group and I am proud to have been a part of your weekend. Practice, practice, practice! You have what it takes. Dry fire, practice your positions behind closed blinds in your living room :) , and review the 6 steps of a shot in your mind throughout the time between now and the next Appleseed. You will be shocked at how tight your groups will be when you are fresh in mind and body.

See you on the trail!

Going over my notes I realized I had missed a few things.

First, I have had the honor of have one of the bravest young men on my line twice.  At each shoot the heat of the day has made hot brass actually stick to him.  The first time it left a nice second degree burn.  This young made didn't dance, didn't move.  He made his rifle safe and then carefully step away from the line, then did the Hot Brass Dance.  I've seen adults do 10 times worse, but he kept his head both time.  I honestly can not say who was prouder, Dad or me.  Nathan, Buddy...  You have earned the nick name  (Thanks Miki) Hot Brass Magnet.

Special thanks to Tony, Rebbecca, Connie, Koolman68 and Bill Winkle.  Seeing your kids on the line gives us all hope for the future.

To all shooters, thanks for your attention and efforts.  I hope to see you at another Appleseed, as I know you will shoot rifleman.

remember, we don't beat our head against the wall...  We break through.
