Post by: Hoover on February 03, 2010, 08:45:33 AM
This thread holds and links to the latest materials used to promote the Appleseed Project within Ohio.  To suggest changes, recommend new materials and/or discuss different ways of using this materials, please use the discussion thread found here (http://appleseedinfo.org/smf/index.php?topic=11683.0).
Title: State flyers
Post by: Hoover on February 03, 2010, 08:49:31 AM
State Flyers

Currently, there are two variants:

1) Appleseed_Ohio_Flyer_marks_v* which emphasizes marksmanship
2) Appleseed_Ohio_Flyer_fndgp_v* which emphasizes founding principles

The first variant is intended for promotions where the audience may specifically be interested in honing their marksmanship skills.  Guns shows, sportsgear outlets, etc. are examples where this may be the more appropriate.  The second variant is intended for promotions where the audience may be more or equally interested in the countries rifleman heritage and founding principles.  Non-gun-centric venues may be appropriate for this flyer.

Each attachment includes a version number and date stamp to help identify the latest version.
Title: National flyer and national promo materials
Post by: Hoover on February 03, 2010, 09:20:38 AM
Please find the national flyer here (http://appleseedinfo.org/smf/index.php?topic=9095.0).

If you are engaging people at an event that may be close to our border and/or that may contain people outside of our state or have people that would benefit from understanding the scope of the project, then be sure to have copies of the national flyer on hand.  The combination of a national flyer and state flyer gives them a feel for the breadth of the national scope while providing specific information on our state events.  The fact that the national flyer also lists events from neighboring states is useful until we develop any "tri-state" style flyers.

In addition, the national promo materials folder can be found here (http://appleseedinfo.org/smf/index.php?board=253.0).  It contains: SWAT magazine article, Appleseed posters, promo video, etc.

Please print these out and distribute them around the state.  Gun shops and gun shows are great locations.  But don't overlook community bulletin boards, grocery stores, VFW, American Legion, Eagles, Elks, Rotary, etc, etc.

Thanks to each of you for taking ownership in making sure our lines are full again in 2010!
Title: CMP catalogs
Post by: Hoover on February 20, 2010, 06:46:36 PM
The Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) offers service rifles (e.g., M1 Garand) and ammo for sale at often below market value.  One of their eligibility requirements (http://www.thecmp.org/eligibility.htm) is to provide proof of participation in a marksmanship related activity.  Attending an Appleseed event qualifies as a marksmanship related activity and a form can be provided by an instructor to provide the needed proof.  Therefore, some prospective Appleseed attendees may be motivated to attend--in part--to obtain the CMP marksmanship qualification.  I would suggest treating this as simply "added value" rather than use it as a primary motivating tool.

Also note that the CMP north store (http://www.thecmp.org/northstore.htm) is located in Port Clinton, OH.  You might mention that it is close to the Gibsonburg range if any prospect is unaware as attending a Gibsonburg event and visiting the CMP north store might be possible in one trip.

I have extra CMP catalogs that can be handed out; or, you can email custserve@odcmp.com to request up to 100 catalogs be sent to you.  I received a box via FedEx within 2 days of making the request.  Mention that you are an Appleseed instructor and that you would like to use their catalogs as part of our promotional activities.
Title: Rifleman Code
Post by: Hoover on February 20, 2010, 06:53:42 PM
The below attachment was inspired by words from Scout and to some degree EEL.  Castle Mountain produced the final after merging their words and incorporating the graphic.  I've attached it after getting permission from the above.   This one-page hand-out is particularly effective in elaborating what is mean by becoming a Rifleman.

And, recently provided by words from Big Papa and again produced by Castle Mountain is another one-page hand-out titled, "Ode to a Rifleman".
Title: Appleseed Kids
Post by: Hoover on February 20, 2010, 06:57:33 PM
The attached one-page flyer is dominated by pictures of "young patriots" attending various Appleseed events.  This is a collage from photos pulled together by Dry Fire in an essay/letter titled: "A Note to Parents (http://appleseedinfo.org/smf/index.php?topic=11568.0)".  Eventually, another version may be created the includes the text of the above note along with "thumbnail" images of select photos.
Title: More National Promo materials
Post by: Hoover on February 24, 2010, 12:31:25 PM
Eventually, these will hopefully find their way to the national promo forum and I'll adjust this post to link to them.  As of now, they're somewhat embedded in a thread in Indiana's forum--hence the motivation for attaching them explicitly here so that Ohioans can easily find them.  Credit goes to techres for creating these very nice tri-fold flyers.

There are two attachments: One that emphasizes women at appleseed events and another that a press release for the Ft. Stewart event.  Both can be very effective in demonstrating the project's credibility.  Even if they're not always handed out--having some to point to or show can be useful.  We may have some tacked up in a static display for upcoming booths.
