Title: mi front sight - A2 style
Post by: marrandy on October 22, 2009, 07:22:48 PM
I'm looking for a good (that means easy to use, won't damage the sight and won't break) sight adjustment tool for Midwest Industries iron front sights and the A-frame sight on the AA tactical 16".

Google'ing around shows several tools but I am sure they are different quality etc.

So anyone that has experience with these I would appreciate a response.

Thanks.

PS.  No, I don't want to use a bullet.

Replying to myself.

Midwest industries have one.  #MI-A2ST

and there is also Compass Lake which was recommended to me as being robust and well made.

I'll let you know my experiences.

Update.

I have the FFR version.

http://www.midwestindustriesinc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=category.display&category_id=79

1)  http://www.compasslake.com/Sight%20Tool.htm

If the sight post is in the middle or higher, the tool fits.  But due to the width of the tool in the middle, if the sight post is in the low position, it won't fit through the gap.

2)  http://www.midwestindustriesinc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=category.display&category_id=178

Its lighter than the Compass Lake but fixed my problem.  I bought Two in case one failed.

Thanks for the updates, I have been looking for a front sight tool for my new AR, and was wondering how solid some of these are-  the front sight tool that I bought with my Tech-Sites for the SKS was not very strong, and the little prongs meant for the front sight (5-prong) ended up bent.

Let us know if you have any issues with the sight tools.
