Title: AAR Middlebury VT September 26-27 2009
Post by: ripersnifle on September 28, 2009, 09:17:55 AM
Middlebury, VT September 26-27 2009

Full distance event.
8 Shooters both days.
4 No-Shows.
No new Riflemen.
SEVERAL Dangerous Cooks!
2 shooters drove 6 hours from Long Island to make this event.
Another shooter drove 4 hours from Maine.
Props to them.

Saturday:  25M standard fare

Redcoat background history, 1st Strike...
4 QDAQTs
Mostly .22s on the line, 1 Boomer.
The Boomer helped other shooters find their Bubble.
Noticeable improvement on the final Redcoat.

Sunday:  25M / Full Distance

25M Redcoat, Sighters on 1" Squares, B&D w/ Centerfires, 2 QDAQTs
3-4 shooters shot tighter groups with their Battle Rifles than with their .22s!
Managed (2) Full-Distance AQTs on Sunday.  (Even with the rain)
No target pits, plenty of fresh cow pies.
Used a 2-man team on a 4-Wheeler to record/verify the FD hit locations on a clipboard for each shooter after each stage.
Had to use a laptop case to keep the clipboards dry when not in use.
They pasted the holes afterward.
This worked out well.
Gave us plenty of time for History on Sunday.
2nd / 3rd Strike, DOM...
Each shooter went home with their hit record and come-ups for their rifle/ammo combination.
I was very pleased with the shooters' attitudes, receptiveness, and abilities.
Definitely a GREAT site for 4/19.
A BIG Thank You to our host range.
Another Thank You to Nickle, Blueskys, NattyBumpo, Rifleman_NH, and D.

B9, I think they'll both take us up on the opportunity to become IIT's once they get that score in.

The rain was a day long drizzle Sunday, about 1.5 inches of it for the whole day.

But, our shooters hung tough, and stuck it out, and even a few of our Instructors got the chance to get some FD shooting in.

The Shoot Boss is too modest to say that he shot a Rifleman score FD, with iron sights. Of course, he's been a Rifleman for about 2 years now, but not with irons at FD.

Greets Nickle!

Do you know if Rich and Pete are the same two fellows from L.I. who attended the SaraSpa Appleseed on 9/19 & 20?  If so, my hat's off to them - they have nearly as much driving time in as shooting time!
