Hear ye! Hear ye! Hear ye! Calling all Ohioans and everyone else within the sound of my post! <:)
Thanks to the hard work of George T and his dedication to the cause, we have scheduled Ohio's first IBC for February 13-15 in Athens, OH.
We will be releasing 2010 Ohio goals very soon and you will notice that they can only be achieved with the help of many more IITs, Red Hats, and Shoot Bosses. The best way to get trained on how to truly understand and teach others the Appleseed curriculum is to attend an Instructor Boot Camp.
We are releasing the date five months in advance because we would like every Instructor to attend, regardless of their level... IIT0 to Senior Instructor! This will allow us all to learn the material, shake off rust from a long winter, and finalize preparations to meet our 2010 goals. Please do your absolute best to plan now to attend. All other obligations should be able to be rescheduled with this five month's notice. O0
Uncle Sam has graciously seen fit to give us this three day weekend already, so I look forward to sharing it with my fellow Ohio Instructor Corps!
This thread will be updated with more information as the date approaches. Feel free to PM me any questions.
Thanks!
I'm in.......... and look forward to seeing everyone there.

THat's why MS gave us such a long lead time, so we could take early steps against being in the
doghouse over skipping Valentines weekend!
Just buy flowers each week now to then, Slim. You'll be OK :)
I will most certianly be in attendance :~

Fred reimburses for that, right?
I'm in.
Stupid question...
Do you have to be Rifleman before attending this?
Joseph
Joseph, PM sent.
Unless daughter is on leave from the sandbox, I'll be there.

Hmmmm, this has been posted for two months, there are 33 IITs/ITs in Ohio, and only 9 have responded?
Given 60 days, a bang-up event, and energetic, motivated (and terrified-of-the-future - but given HOPE by Appleseed) people, I would expect more to be interested in this.
Maybe I'm on the wrong wave-length, here?
Maybe those few Ohioans awakened by AS enough to become instructors, haven't been woke up, quite enough?
Maybe, if logic and persuasion won't work, it's time to get out, not only the clown bat, but the cattle prod - the electric one?
Gosh, I can see all you guys, right now, lined up at the Illinois fence, mooning at all the energy and camaraderie being displayed before your very eyes, wishing you was part of it... (Which is a partial reason why we conceal other state boards from ya - so you guys won't feel so bad. >:D)
My heart goes out to Meanstreaker, who must have to rachet his expectations down, on a daily basis. :'(
What unappreciated courage, what fortitude (unappreciated), what backbone (unappreciated) it must take for him to keep persisting in the face of such mass ignorance and apathy!
A living example proving what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger!
Last I looked, there were 11,485,910 people in Ohio, of which 86 are riflemen.
I don't think now is the time to lay back on the job.
Now, what do you say, can we get a little more interest in an event with the potential to really mobilize Appleseeders in OH?
Can each of you resolve to come, and also resolve to bring one new potential IIT with you - plus one extra to make up for those who can't?
I mean, you've got three months - how long could it possibly take to get a friend, a neighbor, a relative or family member, a co-worker to understand about this program whose validity and value seems so obvious to you?
And why would you be willing to write 'em off - all of them - without getting them to an Appleseed? (Which, unless you have one or more lined up to get into this program, is what you are doing...)
Do I need to insert the word "Duh!" here? :)
The big game in town is April 17-18. Look on the Feb event as the pre-game huddle...
Meantime, MS, if this is all the response this thread is destined to get, we can always use under-appreciated you down here in North Carolina. O0
PS: I am working with some IT guys to to develop an internet-friendly "electric stimulant" (trans: shock) to be delivered personally and individually via PM - you guys'll be thanking me, later, for getting you 'back on the rails' - just a friendly head's-up from the person you all know as "Fred, the Helpful" O0
Fred,
You obviously have never experienced the "magic" of Athens. Fear not,
they will come, they always do.
Its not the water up here. Its in the air. We have the "spirit". Athens Fish & Game Club is where its catching....the "spirit", that is.
Consider this your personal invitation to head on up here and experience it for yourself. You would enjoy meeting some of the families we have attending Appleseeds, they definitly have the "spirit".
It is my understanding that some of those family members will be attending the IBC as well as several club members.
And Meanstreaker....he knows and is preparing at this very moment lesson plans for the crowded IBC, therafter sending them forth to train riflemen sharing that same Athens "spirit", you bet!
So Fred, kick-back, relaaaax, you know like NPOA, let Meanstreaker and the Athens "spirit" work their "magic".
George T
Current IITs, I encourage you to read this post clearing up any confusion about what an IBC is.

I'm looking forward to seeing everybody at this event!

Actually, Posterboy has an
electric bull whip (don't ask)! Maybe I'll borrow it from him and see what I can do about the rest of the Gibsoburg contingent.
For if we don't outnumber the Athenians, then --- forget about Fred ---
Ishy will never let us live it down.

You bet! O0
Daughter on leave from the sandbox in March, so I'm looking forward to some training.
Just got on the Ohio State Board but have all ready pre-registered for the IBC. Well put George T, the "Spirit" is alive and well in Athens!
Ratchett
This will be my first Appleseed anything since getting my orange hat. I would not miss this for just about anything! When do we get to find out who the Shoot Bosses will be?
Hope to see lots of Ohioans there!
---GFG
GFG, Dinky Dao and I will be doing our best to run the show.
If you are attending, please go to this thread and complete the Action Items necessary for attendance. Thanks!
