Title: Can you dry fire a Marlin 795?
Post by: CortJestir on September 08, 2009, 02:58:02 PM
So, I had the opportunity to pick up a BNIB Marlin 795 today for, get this, $89.98 ($95.38 OTD)  >:D >:D >:D I couldn't pass up a deal like this - I need a few more loaner rifles!

Anyway, does anyone know if it's safe to dry fire? My inclination is no, but I'm hoping to hear otherwise...

Thanks,
CJ

Didn't see in the manual were it said okay or not.    http://www.marlinfirearms.com/pdfs/manuals/MFC_Self_Load_RF_Clip_22LRMACH2.pdf

However, since the thing one fire unless a magazine is installed and the bolt locks back on the empty magazine, that may have been the designers way to discourage dry firing by making it a P.I.T.B.

You know how it is, make it difficult and most folks won't keep trying.
