I would like to thank all the instructors for having this Appleseed. I only had time to attend on saturday, but I did make the Rifleman cut. I attended a mini almost a year ago, and practice what they taught me. I originally did not believe some of the methods really worked, but after trying them and attending this appleseed I went from a 165 (first time ever) to a 219 on the 15th. I have purchased my own targets and will score from 208 through my highest 223. It seams the more I shoot at one time the by the end of the day my scores go down. I will now start to practice this all over but with a scope this time and I may attend one more with the scope and later attend the cmp rimfire sporter.
Thanks Guys
Sounds like you are going to do just fine, remember that you can get tired, which could be very good for Natural Point of Aim, but also is wearing out the eyes (focused on the front sight) and arms holding the rifle steady. So shooting more AQTs in one day might be too much. Change targets, change rifles, change distances if possible. And never forget the next step, step up and help out with other Appleseeds, since you are a Rifleman now you can help coach, talk up your experience and help others find the next Appleseed and support the production of an new instructor - you, if you study hard and work harder. See you at the range, I have always had a hankering to visit Vermont, loved those Green Mountain Boys.
Snowman357,
Congratulations! Under normal circumstances I could identify you by your score. But we had so many 219s that weekend that I can't do that.
The Montpelier, VA Appleseed was one of the best I have instructed at. VAShooter can say for sure but I think that the total was 9 new Riflemen out of a total of 25 people over the two days. Of the nine, six were at their first Appleseed.
I think that I can speak for all of the Instructors when I say that we were very pleased with the weekend. Cavalier provided a great facility. We had excited and motivated shooters. The weather cooperated in a most un-Virginia like way (mid 80's and humidity below 75%). In addition to the nine Riflemen, we had a number of other shooters above 200.
I hope that you can come back to another Appleseed. In September we will be in Buckingham. October is back at Cavalier. November is our second trip to Va Beach, and we will be back at Black Creek for December. I also hope that you will consider taking on an orange hat. It's a job that needs doing and a job that's worth doing.
