Target distance was 25 meters (about 27 yards or 82 feet).
The 2nd group was ill-adjusted because I miss-calculated clicks. Once I realized my mistake, the third group was correctly dialed in.
I'm glad it liked the Aguila SuperExtra because I recently received a case of 5,000 rounds from CMP! It also liked Federal, CCI, Remington, etc.
The bad: The trigger (spec'd at 7 pounds) is lackluster.
I wish it had a longer sight radius (15.5") for my aged eyes but hey, it's patterned after the M4. And the front sight post is twice as wide as I'd like it to be. Since it is a standard A2 post I will swap it out.
I have ordered two 10 round mags because in prone the 25 round mag touches the ground. (The dealer said it will be awhile before extra mags--10 or 25 rounds--will be separately available.)
I bought this instead of a Ruger 10/22 (plus necessary extras, e.g., Tech Sights, etc.) for a loaner at Appleseeds. (That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!)
And a bonus for Appleseed: receiver has "FIRE" and "SAFE" on both sides so the line officer can readily see where the lever is at.It didn't come with a front sling attachment so I had to buy one. The mount and a quick-disconnect added about $32 to the cost.
Ok two questions, one how much? two who makes the sling swivel on the front rail and does it fit a 1&1/4 slings? oh btw nice rifle and group :~ AzRon

MSRP is $499 with one 25 (or 10) round magazine. This particular sling swivel dovetail mount was made by Yankee Hill Machine Co., Inc. (www.yhm.net), part no. YHM-9485S (http://www.yhm.net/store/slings.html) ($24) (It's also available from Brownells here (http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/sid=46700/sku/Dovetail_Sling_Mount).) Yankee Hill Machine also makes a 1-1/4 in. Q.D. Sling Swivel (YHM-9470) for $7.50.
It was what the dealer had in stock. The one I wanted (MCTAR-08HD Heavy Duty Adapter (http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/sid=50958/pid=20701/sku/MCTAR_08HD_Heavy_Duty_Adapter)) is made by Midwest Industries, Inc (http://www.midwestindustriesinc.com/). Brownells has their five different types here (http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=20701/Product/AR_15_CAR_15_SLING_ADAPTERS). And thanks for noticing the grouping. (When I was buying the rifle, the dealer asked, "And will you be wanting a bipod adapter for it?" "No, thanks, I've been to an Appleseed!" (And yes, he has AS flyers on his counter, provided by your humble poster.))
"No, thanks, I've been to an Appleseed!"
Nevada,
Great answer!! That should be the "in stock" answer for "all" the bipod requests...... O0 <:) O0
And yeah, absolutely nice grouping!! Especially as you "got used to it"..... You must of had some really good instruction somewhere....... **) **) **) **) @)
Looking forward to seeing this little dude in a few weeks!

Does that use a standard set of pins/springs/trigger/hammer? If so, replacing that evil 7lb trigger should be easy.
Would LOVE to get a good review on them...I love the concept, just haven't handled one yet. IIRC, our S&W rep told us that all AR triggers/trigger parts would fit, so you can put your favorite 2-stage in or whatever to match your primary AR.
Seem to be nice little rifles, I just wanna get my hands on one and see what they can do. I have handled the 'Colt' AR .22LR, and was SORELY disappointed. POS, feels cheap, shoots extra medium, and has feeding problems. What can you expect from a rimfire rifle designed and built by an Airsoft company?

+1. The Colt is a turd...molded in slide lock, generally cheap. I'm curious about these S&Ws too. I really want a Spike's 22LR upper, as soon as they make a 20" version.
Be nice if S&W would have enough demand for these to make a 20".

After reading about issues with other semi-auto rifles (e.g., the Remington 597), it remains to be determined whether or not the S&W M&P15-22 can successfully make it through a two-day Appleseed.
The opportunity to test it shall arise on the weekends of Aug. 29-30 and Sept. 26-27 if not before.
Thanks for the link. I am in favor of the shorter ten round magazine always, it doesn't get in the way of the best position and will do everything you need for an Appleseed. The price is more than I would want to spend, but if you are going to spend more than a thousand plus dollars on an AR center fire this is not a bad way to teach and practice on the .22 LR ammunition, looks much better than the conversions. Will want to know how it does in those two day Appleseeds.
IMPORTANT: RELEASING THE M&P15-22's BOLT ON A CHAMBER FLAG WILL JETTISON THE EXTRACTOR.
Fortunately featherblue had a metal detector and we were able to locate the extractor in the sand and dried sagebrush.
And on a related note MrBill figured out why this rifle suddenly stopped reliably extracting rounds--it's possible to incorrectly put the three-piece extractor together!
IMO this is a poor design on both accounts and I will notify S&W customer service about it.
If you will be using the .22 kit much you will want to install KNS anti-walk pins to prevent receiver wear.
After reporting the "ejected extractor" (no play on words intended) to S&W customer service, I promptly received all three parts in the mail. (No charge!)
I carefully put the parts together--meaning: keeping the plunger from rotating once it was inside the spring, making sure the flat correctly mated with the extractor--and verified proper operation using snap caps.
So it's good to go for the next Appleseed this weekend.
That's sure a good looking gun. I got the chance to see one in person at the Ottawa shoot this past weekend. I didn't get a chance to follow up with the shooter regarding its accuracy/functionality, but i didn't recall any mechanical issues.
Next will be trying to find one around in my area!
I saw one of these today at my local gun shop. Feels kind of toy like being plastic and all, but they said the same thing about the Glock years ago. A really nice package for the price $390 if a NRA member. I have no use for it myself but the adjustable stock would be nice for a LTR for smaller women and kids.
Not to be negative, but factual...I had 2 guys buy a pair of these to go to the A/S in Canton Ms with me...We tried 5 different brands of ammo...one would not run anything...the other needed to be cleaned later the first day..Both guys made Riflemen...using my Ruger 10-22....for the amount of money they cost...I/m staying with the Ruger Target Rifle...just an IMO...D-451
We had one on the line in Buckeye, no failure to feed or eject, i think he was using Federal bulk. He came close to making Rifleman with it. He had just got and was still learning the rifle, next time!! a Rifleman persists! O0 AzRon
I had one of these last weekend in Alabama and one this weekend in Virginia. In both cases they performed fine. The one this weekend did have it's removable rear sight come loose, but I don't attribute that to manufacturing or quality.
The one thing that I saw that bothered me was that the front sight appeared canted on the one this weekend.
Last weekend in AL, the shooter had a small red dot and was not using her folding rear sight.
