Title: Conceived in Liberty by Murray Rothbard -- free audiobooks
Post by: Redchrome on July 30, 2009, 07:12:13 PM
Conceived in Liberty is a 4-volume set of books about the founding of America, from the first European colonies up through the Revolution.
They go into tremendous detail about the political and economic history of the colonies, and show just how highly individualistic they were -- from the theocratic and authoritarian Massachusetts to the anarchic/voluntaristic Pennsylvania. It gives a very good 'feel' for how many people of the time thought; in all their diversity.

I know we're all terribly busy with stuff, and don't have time to read the things we'd like; so that's why it's so great to see them available as audiobooks. Put them on your mp3 player and listen to them as you drive to the Appleseed shoots or on your way to work. I have to admit the person reading them is a bit dull in her inflection; but you can't beat it at the price. :)

Volume 4 (the Revolution itself) isn't finished yet; and new releases have been several months between; but I encourage you to listen to the previous sections while waiting for Volume 4.

If you can't wait, and can spare the time for it, Volume 4 is available as a .pdf download.
