Title: IN Appleseed Instructors Picnic - AUG 22 - Cloverdale
Post by: hawkhavn on July 29, 2009, 10:43:55 PM
To all Indiana Instructors and their families and guests,

The Hoosier Instructor Corps will be meeting on Saturday, August 22 at the Cloverdale Conservation Club from 10 until 4 (or later).  DaveD graciously arranged the range and clubhouse for us.  Menu, agenda to be determined, however top of the list will be getting to personally know the other Instructors and to plan for 2010.

RSVP here so we know how many to plan for.

Likely just me. Daniel will be out I think and my wife may be in a workshop in Ohio. I will know better a week or so prior.

Keep you powder dry...

I know we have more instructors than this. Hoping people just haven't seen it yet. Hawk, make sure and let us know if we need to bring anything like potato salad, chips, etc., and if we'll be doing any shooting that day, k?

Thanks!

Absolutely, I make a wicked good loaf of homemade bread and my biscuits ain't half bad either. My wife makes pies that will make you forget about dinner. It wouldn't be a total loss if we all brought desert by accident...

So long as someone brings Bacon for Allen.

Brokensling is helping round up everybody.
DaveD found us a facility.
Yes, the ranges will be open and I would imagine Appleseeders might put a few rounds down range.
Yellowhousejake has taken off like a mad man on range scouting operations and will have some news for us (I think).
I'm planning on grabbing a few buckets of the Colonel's finest and we'll let everyone fill in around that.

The important thing to remember is this is your program, you need to be thinking about where you want things to be this time next year.  We're not near done with 2009 yet, we have 5 weekend Appleseeds and 5 minis yet and probably 1 or 2 might yet sneak in.  BUT, 2010 is only 150 days out so we need to lay the groundwork now.  There are more than 30 folks in the instructor pipeline so we could easily handle 50 shoots next year.

It looks like I will be able to make it, bar any unforseen directional changes.

Unless something big pops up I should be able to make it also. I will also get in touch with some of the others in the Lafayette area and see if we can get a small group together and head that way. Let me know what I need to bring...

I will not be there, but will be thinking about you.  I will give Hawkhavn a list of my ideas and concerns before then to see what you guys think.  I am sorry not to be able to see all the new faces as well as old faces.  And yer gonna be shooting too!  :o

But I got you beat.  I will be with some IIT's and students and there is nothing better than that...

Title: Re: IN Instructors Picnic and 2010 Planning Session - Cloverdale - AAR
Post by: hawkhavn on August 23, 2009, 11:39:25 AM
Indiana had our first Instructor Picnic and 2010 Planning Session yesterday, 8/22/09.  Good turnout with more than a third of our total instructor corps of 32 on hand.

We invested the bulk of the day in reviewing where Indiana has been and where we are going.  Using a carefully calibrated paper plate and a state map we placed 1 hour drive times around our 5 most active ranges and were able to graphically see where we needed to concentrate our range recruiting efforts for next year.

Much discussion on everyone's promotion activities, what's been successful and what needs fine tuning.  Yellowhousejake has stepped up to head our PR and outreach activities.  This is in addition to his IIT and range recruiting work- Thanks DAve and Mrs. DAve.

We briefly broke business to enjoy a wonderful lunch with lots of homemade goodies and a couple of buckets of the Colonel's finest.  Thank you to all of the cooks and gadeners!

After lunch we went back to work.  Planned out our next training/get together session for JAN/FEB 2010 and officially called it a day.  Some folks began long treks back home, believe it or not rifles were broke out and using the line pre-set up by DaveD some rounds went down range.

Special thanks to Brokensling for helping shepherd the pre-event work, DaveD for arranging a facility and firing line,
all of the folks who brought food and the families who us.
