I have spoken to Gander Mountain Castleton, The Outdoorsman, Pop Guns, and Dicks at Washington Square. They all will put out information. What do I print out to give them? (The manager at Dicks would like to attend I think).

Here's what I do.
I emailed info@appleseedinfo.org (http://info@appleseedinfo.org) and asked them for a couple dozen of the 4 page color promo piece that I found out is called "the SWAT article". I then purchased a few dozen of the bifold mini flyers http://www.appleseedstore.flyingcart.com/?p=detail&pid=2&cat_id=0 (http://www.appleseedstore.flyingcart.com/?p=detail&pid=2&cat_id=0) and a few of the oval Appleseed bumper stickers http://www.appleseedstore.flyingcart.com/?p=detail&pid=5&cat_id=0 (http://www.appleseedstore.flyingcart.com/?p=detail&pid=5&cat_id=0).
When I visit a potential range, gun shop or just about anyone who will listen I do my usual pitch, then leave them with at least the SWAT article. If it is a store or range I also leave 10 or more of the bifold mini flyers. If I'm talking to an individual I give them the SWAT article and one or two of the bifold mini flyers. If I get the impression that their really "on board" and willing to promote Appleseed, I hand them a bumper sticker.
But you cannot stop there. You need to repeat this again a few weeks later and then a month after that. It even better if you can get another Appleseeder to canvas the same places you already visited so that they get the impression a "movement" is underway. O0 Follow-up is part of a good promotional campaign.
Sales and promotion are not one-shot events. Hit them over and over, building an aire of competence and demonstrating a degree of organization. Folks are more likely to get on board a well-oiled machine than a one shot affair.
Jake,
You may be able to obtain the SWAT reprint from your local Shoot Boss. Or you can PM with a shipping address and I'll send you some.

Thanks, I will be picking up some handout material at the IBC next weekend. I will add some free targets and bi-folds where needed.
