I found something interesting on the net today and thought I would share. If only we could talk marlin into making them again?

An interesting find.
Sadly, it doesn't seem to use anything like the Garand's loading clip... a vast oversight that one might guess was one of the Corps' issues with the rifle.
The sights are very LTR-ish tho. :)
It is just neat!! It has LTR all over it, sling, sights, magazine for mag changes and it is a 22lr. All in a rifle over 50 years old. Thanks, Fred.
Here's my try at a .22 Garand trainer, I can't figure out how to top load it or get it to ping after eight rounds. But it has made a couple of rifleman.
Hawkeye, that is truly amazing!
Looks better than the Marlin one.
What .22 is hiding under all that?
That is the best looking 10/22 I have ever seen! O0
Looks like a nice 10/22...
Hawkeye, That is a beautiful piece of work! Not only can you shoot a classic but also you make it affordable to do, Nice work! O0
Thanks, Fredfunder.
I've seen a 10/22 dressed like an M1 carbine, but that's the first like a garrand...
Thanks for the positive replies, Sorry for hijacking the thread. I'm working on building an M14 look alike next ,the carbines are very easy to make, but the stocks are too short for me. The 10/22 Garand is weighted to feel like a Garand ,the only garand part harmed is the barrel and I only use the worst of the shot out ones to screw on the end of the Ruger barrel. People think it's a tanker until they get a good look at it.
pictures/details on the conversion would be of interest - if you don't mind folks copying your work...
That's an awesome conversion. I agree, more pics and details would be greatly appreciated. Also approximately how much did it cost to build?
Let me take one apart and photograph it and I will post it in detail.

Unfortunately for us:
QuoteThis item has been sold.
The pictures are no longer available.
I'd love to have that marlin to shoot just because of what it is.
Hawkeye, take some photograph of the M14 look alike you are building and post if you can!!! Just may have to order a stock from Fred and start working on one?
QuoteUnfortunately for us:
I have saved some of the pictures of the USMC Marlin for future reference, just let me know and i can e-mail them too anyone. Thanks, fredfunder.
Impressive!
And to think I was starting to get finished with my LTR. ::)
hawkeye,
you've set expectations high on the M14 version....
What's next? A Carcano?
How about an Albanian SKS (you can use sand to give the trigger the same feel...)
That's nice!
There was a SGN article; outlining how to make one up, but that requires more time(and equipment) than I have available. :(
I would be real interested in seeing how you did it. Perhaps it may be more pheasable for me.
An M-14 version would be excellent as well...As it would probably be the closest I'll ever get to owning one.

OK guys it's finished and the thread name is Garand 10/22. I hope to have the M14 10/22 finished by the end of Summer. This Garand 10/22 is easier than the one in SGN , No lining the barrel or cutting up the stock.
