Title: Corpus Christi AAR June 20-21
Post by: POP on June 22, 2009, 10:39:25 AM
This weekend Corpus got its first Rifleman,  Josh, a 17 year old home schooler from the Lake Mathis area north of Corpus.  on his last three AQTs he scored 224, 211, 217 respectively.

And, because of Josh's excitement, he also has entered the IIT Program.  And, because of all that, we are going to do some Mini Appleseeds up near him over the rest of the Summer.  Will keep you Posted.

Mark Alonso was SB with me and BDG as instructors.  Alonso's friend, Fig, from the Harris Co Sheriff Dept came with him.  Fig is a great appleseeder ... helpful, quick wit, knows his stuff, and no nonsense attitude on the firing line.

We had 8 shooters Saturday, two Sunday, Mega Heat, Mega Wind and blowing Sand (I thought I was in Davilla), but, a High Quality Safe Weekend for All.  And, a lot of fun.

Alonso will post his comments.  I will post more.  BDG will post comments and PICs.  I think we are developing a good nucleus of Appleseeders here in Corpus.

Pop has it right.  Corpus Christi has it's first Riflemen! and 17 years old at that!

Saturday started with 8 shooters, 3 of them were between the ages of 10-15.  I had BDG and Pop with me.
BDG called the line and Pop and I worked the line.

By the end of the day we had a lot of improvement, however, we did not get to any AQT's.

Sunday we had 2 shooters come back for more O0

Josiah (EyeQ) and Steve.  The wind picked up and everything was covered with sand. EyeQ and Steve continued to battle the elements and attack the AQT's when we started the grind.

By the end of the day, EyeQ was a Riflemen and Steve is not far behind.

After speaking with the shooters, I have no doubt we will see them again.  EyeQ seems really excited about Appleseed and Steve, who is a Navy pilot, said he will spread the word and he would be back.

Maybe we can get Steve to drop some Appleseed leaflets for us ;D

So overall, we had another productive Appleseed in Corpus Christi.  Many thanks to Pop, BDG and the Starry gun range.

Until next time, keep those actions clear and I'll see you on the beach.

Hey guys,

Sorry about the delay in posting!  This is the first day of the week that I've been home at a decent hour from work.  Appleseed was a blast(and more than just sand **) ).  Sure is nice to finally be a rifleman!  You can sure I'll be back if possible at the next shoot to fine tune the skills that I've learned from the last two shoots! O0  I'll also be seeing what I can do to help out and further appleseed programs in the coming months.  I sure thank all of you for the help ya'll gave to me from lousy cook to being a rifleman!  You can't get this kind of top rate instruction for the price of appleseed ANYWHERE and the more Corpus figures this out the more people were are soon going to find at future appleseeds.  I plan on doing my part in putting out the word.

And now I need to clean out the half pound of sand still stuck in my 10/22 !@#)  I'll keep in touch with ya'll and look forward to seeing everyone at the next shoot!

Josiah  :)

Big thanks to everyone who showed, especially to the Sunday shooters, who braved the temperature and grueling pace of the AQT grind.

Congrats to Josiah for shooting Rifleman. Welcome to the club!
