Title: Newcastle,WY 6/6-7/9
Post by: colonial shooter on June 08, 2009, 12:37:56 AM
After having the RWVA engineers and students set the firing line. The student count exceeded the pre regs list by seven. Giving the first days total of 21. Weather was atypical for June in WY. Temps in the 50's, heavy dew (rain) dropping most of the day. wind occasionally destroying the firing line. Day One produced 1 rifleman, but all students showed great improvement.

Day two: Started with the instructor corp having to start by reconstructing the firing line after the previous nights storm. After losing several day 1 shooters, but adding 4 new ones. Sundays total was 12. Half of the shooters (.22lr) were taken to the indoor range, due to the weather. The rest remained out in the rain and wind. At least 2 more riflemen were produced, only one had to get dunked with a score of 210.

I would like to thank the instructors that showed up as a surprise: Whisker, North Bridge Water, Anders. And thanks to the other IITs: Count von count, brian, J_T, Beulah Trash,  Thanks guys, You make my job so much easier.

Hopefully next time, we get our supplies, but we overcame, using personal supplies and had a great time, met great folks and look forward to doing this one again.

Students were also surprised by the appearance of BTP (Boston T. Party) a rare occurrence.

New Rifleman here! Was able to get over Sat afternoon to have a look see, decided to come back Sunday and participate, real happy I did. Although was using a .22LR opted to stay outside in the weather and was able to post a 219 before lunch. To say I was happy was an understatement.

Want to thank everyone that put this all together. Ready to participate and volunteer when possible. Sorry can't remember everyone's name, but thanks go all around. :)

What-no snow? Cold drizzle in the morn', sweat and sun in the p.m. And that was just Saturday! Yes we had fun and made some riflemen and had more knocking at the door. Very rewarding. Westcreek-get that orange hat, you won't regret it. I enjoyed working with this Wyoming crew (and whisker) and look forward to next time. East or West, Appleseed people are good people! P.S. Thanks ML.

Congratulations to our three new rifleman!

I had a great time, learned a lot and especially enjoyed getting to meet some new faces.

A special thanks to ML for all of your kind hospitality -- and well done on the improving your score over last year!

We were also honored to have Wes and John participate while on leave from Iraq.   I believe that it is a real tribute to the Appleseed program to have active soldiers come to the shoot and bring their families.   Keep up the good work guys and hope to see you again soon!

Boston, thanks for stopping by!   Wish that we could've kept you busier autographing Gun Bibles for new Rifleman -- had a few that were real close -- maybe next time.

Nice to meet you all out there past the Black Hills.  Newcastle is the West I've been raised to expect: trains, thunderheads and sovereign people.  Appleseed always succeeds in uniting a solid crew of hard-thinking shooters..  Enjoyed every bit of that weekend- the rain, the ridiculously loud covered line, the bits of sun, camping at Mamaliberty's and the conversation which was bottomless.

Thanks Wyoming, see you all again soon.

P.S. SD might need some help with instructors soon.

Thanks for coming Whisker!   Hope that you can make it to the FSW camp out next week.

QuoteP.S. SD might need some help with instructors soon.
Although I'm not an instructor yet, If you get something going in the western part of SD I'd be glad to lend a hand.

Sure glad I was able to get above the 210, I was already wet and cold enough.  :)

Hope Wes and John are keeping their heads down over in the "Big Sandbox". I'm sure a nice dowsing would be welcomed over there.
