October shoots are awesome in Georgia! It DIDN'T reach 100° and we had 5 awesome shooters come out in the middle of the week to hear some history and learn to shoot rifles better. 4 were repeat Appleseeders and one of them, 12Gage, brought a friend. These mid-week shoots are quiet and close-knit. It always seems like just a group of friends getting together to have fun and learn, which I hope it is by the end of the 2nd day. This event was extra special - Centimeter is now a full instructor ^:)^ , 3 of the 6 shooters (Centimeter got to shoot too) requalified as riflemen, Harlee's first unassisted AQT was a 198, and the new-comer showed some great improvement.
Centimeter focused on the rifle instruction the first day, while I gave all 3 Strikes. We started out with both kids - ages 9 and 12 shooting off bags. This is their 3rd Appleseed. They listen well, ask and answer good questions, and can shoot fantastic groups when they want to. I'm so glad that Harlee went out of her comfort zone and tried to shoot off the bag. She was the only one disappointed in her AQT score - 198 is awesome for anyone's first attempt!!! I think most of us would have been happy with that - I'm pretty sure my fist attempt wasn't too far past double digits. I'm willing to bet she'll score a riflewoman score at her next shoot. Mac did very well too, once she grows to fit a rifle better, she'll be right behind her. Their dad/GA's newest IIT Farmer Brown was able to requalify with a 228 and 222. It seems easy now that the pressure is off - at least one volunteer likes telling people that shooting is 90% mental and the other 10% is all in your head. 12Gage and his friend both did great too. Even when we were able to shoot out to 100 yards, they were both better than 4MOA shooters! 12Gage is our newest Applecore volunteer - he requalified as a rifleman with a 210 and was a good sport with a slightly filtered North Bridge baptism.
I appreciate you all coming out and sharing a couple days with us. Keep up the perfect practice and I hope to see you all at another shoot soon.

What a nice group at 100 yards. We're jotting down the drop before we use IMC to get back on target.

Before and After - Congratulations on your promotion to full instructor, Centimeter!
I think if Centimeter had my gun properly sighted and the stock properly adjusted he would have gotten that distinguished score.
Next time!
