Title: Perryville, MO Pistolseed, Oct 17-18, 2026
Post by: Geek on October 23, 2026, 12:18:49 PM
The first pistol event in MO.  WooHoo!  Flintlock54 provided a range for us to utilize.  Thank you for making that happen.

We had a group of 10 folks brave the fall weather to try this new adventure in Appleseed Missouri.  The weekend was filled with inspiring history, top notch coaching, and some darn good instruction.  Only one participant had seen our pistol program a couple years back.  So, Pistolseed was new to everyone shooting.  Our first hits count target was a good benchmark.  Larry, a first time participant cleared the first Hits Count target.  He was awarded one of our George Rogers Clark quarters.  After some baseline instruction, we started building up skills.  Everyone was coming along great.  By the time we finished the first day, we had 2 new Pistoleers and a requal.  Our last Hits Count Target of the day, showed improvement across the board.  Matt, another first time Appleseeder, cleared the target and was awarded a quarter too.

Day 2: Everyone came back ready for more American Heritage, and Marksmanship.  Our first Hits count target had David clearing it this time.  Huzzah!.  Some remedial drills were run prior to our first PQT of the day.  This material works.  Another new Pistoleer, David, was showing his stuff.  We also had a couple of requals too.  In the afternoon, we ran the Whitlock drill.  It was everyone's favorite part of the weekend.  There will be some new purchases made by this group as a result of the drill.  Getting a chance to fire different pistols and experience a variety of sights, is an invaluable thing offered by this drill.  Side by side comparisons of groups and the ability to see which pistol consistently shot tighter groups.  A lot of light bulbs were being lit.  Maybe optics are not so bad afterall :)  Our last Hits Count Target showed folks were getting tired.  We wrapped up the weekend with a rousing close by Geek.

I want to thank Flintlock54 for providing this awesome range for our use all weekend and a place to park the camper.  I had a great crew helping with the event.  Flintlock54, LifelessHarp, Missouri Brigade, Myrradah, and JHB.  Thank you all for your help for the weekend.
