Why do we live in a place where the air hurts our face from December through March? For fall days like we just had this past weekend, that's why!
October 17-18 brought a "chamber of commerce" fall weekend to southwest Michigan and 11 intrepid patriots took advantage of it to hone their skills out to 200 yards with their rimfire rifles and rekindle their brushfires of their heritage.
It was great to meet new friend and reacquaint ourselves with some old ones. We started the weekend with Ray and Doug proving they knew what they were about by showing up and readily hitting the 125 yd Morgan's Shingle. Of our 11 shooters, we made 7 KD rifleman, including one Distinguished! Craig and Rob requalified as Rob shot 48/50 to gain his Distinguished tab. Ray, AJ, Alex, Luke, and Jeremy all became first time KD rifleman with Ray and AJ being baptized in the waters of the North Bridge with initial rifleman scores of 40/50. This was only Ray's second Appleseed, with his first being a 25 M event where he shot Rifleman as well (and he claims he has only started to shoot...we're dubious >:D )
We enjoyed both getting the dope on our rifles as well as a fun ranging exercise and a team fun shoot in the end. Thanks to WRGC for being a great host and for Pookie and MI-Copperhead being my crack instructor team.
Until next year!

Thanks to the cadre, and to mother nature for the mild October afternoon temps. It was great to see everyone maintain a great attitude and so many participants demonstrate "a Rifleman persists" to eventually earn their Rimfire KD tab.
