What started out as a rainy weekend turned into a overall GREAT weekend. When the morning came the rain was upon us. But that didn't damper the shooters spirits. We had a return of Trail Life Troop NC-2717 out of Sanford, NC for their annual Appleseed event and even had some Sea Cadets join them. The boys and dads were ready. We started with the Hits Counts Target and it showed that we had several shooters that were ready to take on the weekend. While no one cleared the target we had several that were close. The instructors at the event began giving the top notch instruction and history telling that Appleseed instructors are known for. All of the shooters soaked up the knowledge like sponges. We were able to get two AQT's in and ended the day with 2 new rifleman and 1 requal!
Sunday morning was nice and crisp and the sun was abundant. Not being able to shoot until noon gave us plenty of time to review the previous days teaching and get a lot of dry fire completed, reinforcing what was taught. After the known distance presentation we were lucky enough to have Steve (Hawkeye) bring his M1 to the range and shoot it for the boys. They thought it was awesome and got them geared up for the day. We were able to get three AQT's in and in addition to a great competition between two teams shooting the Parkers Revenge target. Team Lexington squeaked by Team Concord winning with a score of 38 to Concords 31. Only a couple shots made the difference. Overall the weekend was great and everyone went home with a great appreciation of what our founding fathers went through on April 19, 1775 that gave us this great nation.
GREAT GROUP OF SHOOTERS AND A GREAT WEEKEND OF HISTORY AND MARKSMANSHIP!
