Title: RAMSEUR, NC AAR-OCT.9-10, 2026 LADYSEED
Post by: Bulldog14 on October 13, 2026, 01:28:17 PM
15 Lady Patriots ranging in age from 10 to 65 set up camp at the RWVA home range to hear history and learn marksmanship at the 1st Ladyseed held there in approximately 5 years. After Bulldog14 delivered the welcome speech and the history preamble, everyone gave their attention to MissusGage, who shared the 1st strike.

After the safety briefing and other necessary instruction regarding safe rifle, line commands, and ammo malfunctions these Lady Patriots took on the hits count target, which resulted in 3 hits on the shingle and 1 clearing it.

Formal instruction began to a very attentive group. Sling use, 6 steps, NPOA, prone, trigger control and dryfire was presented which prepared everyone for the first sighter squares. Even with approx. 9 brand new shooters some impressive groups were displayed.

Lunch time was upon us, at which time LadyJ told the second strike.

After lunch more teaching took place. Magazine changes was taught and practiced.  We ended the day with the hits count target. This resulted in 11 hits on the shingle and 4 clearing it.

Day 2 rolled in as well as did a little moisture from the hurricane, but it did not dampen anyone's spirits. The intermittent rain varied from a very light sprinkle to a mist. We started with review and then took care of the necessary safety briefings. The hits count again produced some great results with 6 hitting the shingle and 1 clearing it. After a squares target to verify zeros, we went right into a AQT. This resulted in first time Appleseeder Shelby reaching a respectable score of 220. Bobbie re-qualified with a 233. By the way, that 233 was the high score for the event. On the next AQT Shelby turned in a 214, Makensie re-qualified with a 226, and Bobbie hit a 232.

Lunchtime came and UpaCreek told the 3rd Strike. Bulldog14 gave the known distance presentation. Once we wrapped up lunch, we wrapped up our equipment and safely moved to the KD range, where we engaged targets at 100yds. All shooters did come-ups was able to more fully understand trajectory and how to compensate for it.

Everyone safely moved back to the 25m range, did their come-downs, and shot a sighter square to confirm zero. A few minor adjustments had to be made. The third and final AQT was engaged which resulted in Shelby hitting a 217, and Makensie hitting a 210. Two veteran Appleseeders finally broke down the wall and qualified. Zoei shot 122 on her second AQT. She buckled down, and applied everything she had been taught. She made a 98 point improvement and turned in a 220. Bonya chipped away at that wall all day, turning in scores of 201 and 199. The wall between her and that Rifleman patch finally fell with a score of 216. Great job Ladies! It is worth noting that Shelby knew exactly what she was about. She hit qualifying scores on all three AQT's

All in all it was a great  event.

Thanks to the 11 instructors that participated. I feel that it was very positive for this event.

Special thanks to Katharine  aka, Free_Indeed, who did most of the organizing and advertising for this event. Thanks to Carol aka, UpaCreek for traveling all the way from Georgia to be the Shoot Boss.

I hope Ladyseeds will become more common  throughout Appleseed.
