This was the last scheduled 25m event scheduled at the Parma Rod and Gun Club for this year. I will be working with the range over the next few month to get the 2027 dates scheduled. The current plan is for just two 25m rifle events and a couple Pistolseed events. As I mentioned to you, my focus of 2027 will be to grow our Pistolseed program across with Northwest.
I would like to thank all of the dads that brought their families to the range. We had four family groups with us this weekend. As we discussed, it part of Appleseed mission to pass on the history and heritage of our country to the next generation. One of the best ways to pass on this heritage is to introduce your children to shooting sports.
The following is from a letter from Benjamin Franklin to his nephew "...I advise the gun. While this gives a moderate exercise to the body, it gives boldness, enterprize, and independance to the mind. Games played with the ball and others of that nature, are too violent for the body and stamp no character on the mind. Let your gun therefore be the constant companion of your walks."
I would like to congratulate our two new rifleman, Sean and John. Both of these new rifleman shot their rifleman scores with Tech-sights on their Ruger 10/22. Also congratulation to Sam, who requalified repeatedly as a rifleman with Tech-sights as well. Sam had previous attended AS event in Texas with Ghostring as his shoot boss, and he was obviously taught well.
All of the youth shooters gained some rifle marksmanship skills over the weekend. Nathan finished with the most improved honors between the youth shooters. The remainder of the youth shooter just need to practice the skills taught this weekend using dry practice. With safe rifles, practice the six steps, the steady hold factors and NPOA shift. Focus heavily on trigger control, which includes proper finger placement on the trigger and follow through.
